last night in downtown i was riding my brakeless freewheel BMX without any lights towards oncoming traffic and made a left up a one way in front of a couple cops.

they aggressively pulled me over, yelling directions at me (i think they do this to catch you off gaurd). i stayed calm, got off my bike slowly and kept my hands visible. he asked me why he pulled me over, i didn't say anything. never incriminate yourself. i only said yes sir or no sir. he asked, "may i search your bag?" i said, "i don't consent to any searches sir." he asked me to take my bag off and put it against the wall. it sat there until i got my tickets.

they were nice enough to give me three fix it tickets. i need a brake, a front light, and wheel reflectors, which i all have. he could have really fucked up my life.

Sounds like you were testing their waters.

I blew a red in front of a deputy a few months ago and he thought I was some kind of kamikaze having issues.
I was dressed destitute enough though that there was no ticket issued and he just told me to get help.

I guess playing the disgruntled ex < insert title here >, works to some degree.

should of just booked it/ disrespect the red & blue berries/ hightail your ass outta there/ "avoid" the pigs/ don't get in business with a coppa/ pretend you were deaf/ pull out your certified 'idiot card'/ slept with 10 Victoria secret models or the least a bus load of Maxim models. Then that would of been a good meaning to this thread of 'getting lucky last night'.

whatever you had in your bag must be some good shit- because only burnt out stoners ride BMX freewheel with no brakes- get a light. and Im glad you didnt get busted on the bag- sounds like you stayed one step ahead of the popo and knew your rights- Thats cool.

Anybody working over 12 hours becomes aggro regardless of the profession, or at the very least, sloppy.

i thought about weather i would have made it if i had just stepped on it before the cop car made it's legal left without the sirens on. i might have been able to make it around a couple corners and lay low, call who i was with, but i think with everything that happened, i got the best i could have got.

cops suck.

having a calm demeanor, polite responses, and a light complexion will put you on the better side of just about any police interaction.

I was on sunset after the BFF art show after party at Short Stop getting a bacon wrapped heart attack on a bun and 2 cops rolled some drunk hussies in a car.

While they were getting talked to I drunkenly decided to take a picture (no flash, anonymous and back lit)... just to capture what i thought was some beautiful light and a typical urban scene.

I didn't account for the lil yellow focus light that tipped off the cop who shined his big ass light at me.

When one of the drunk hussies saw my camera bathed in the cops spotlight one walked away from questioning and tried and drunkenly grab my camera out of my hand while screaming threats and insults at me.

The cops calmly told her to calm down (repeatedly) as she continued to drunkenly complain about me.

Then some gaytino boys at the hot dog stand were trying to tell that girl that she should be grateful that the cops were being so nice.

Then the cops came over and started talking shit to them and saying we were all, drunk, and that the hotdogs were illegal and they could arrest all of us.

I then tried to explain to the cops that the boys were just telling those girls that they were lucky that the cops were so nice. The cops could barely register it at first but then calmed down a bit.

Basically they were prepared to start shit/ arrest/harass the boys on the sidewalk & the hot dog lady, while the drunk girls they pulled over in the first place (who tried to grab my camera) were let off scott free.

It was so surreal.
But not too surprising.

I've charmed my way out of many a ticket.
But after personally witnessing so many people of color get shit from the cops it makes me wonder how many of those tickets I would have gotten stuck with if I was a few shades darker.

i had somebody with me that was trying to talk to a cop to understand what was going on and that was a mess.

if you are not involved, don't talk to cops.

if you are involved, don't talk to cops.

the cop said that my friend, "needed to learn how to deal with people."

i wanted to say, "but cops aren't people sir."

seriously though, treat cops like cops, they love it. act like they are god and they will help you out.

Police take notes sometimes on tickets. If you KNOW you are getting a ticket, as Wally says....keep your mouth shut. you don't want the police to "remember" you for anything EXCEPT for what's on your drivers license...age, height, weight, etc....

if you try to talk yourself out of a ticket....good fucking luck..ain't gonna happen...just take the ticket, sign your name and get on your way...then when you delay the ticket, written declaration, and/or possibly appear in court to contest it...the police will probably not show up as there was nothing about you that was memorable...but if you're a loudmouth talking shit saying you didn't do it...chances are they'll show up in court cuz you were being a dick....

If Sgt. Krumer would like to comment on this posting, it would be interesting to hear his take on it.

Amazingly, I get more shit from cops that aren't white, and I'm not white myself.

Meanwhile, all the stereotypical cops I've been pulled to the side by legitimately have let me off with mere warnings.

"Fix that crack", or "No riding two-abreast", and then I leave.
