Westwood Village Bike Racks

Hey guys, remember when they took out the parking meters in Westwood Village, and some of us were disappointed that they would have less access to places to lock up their bikes? I went through the area recently, and they replaced a lot of those meters (though not all) with LADOT bike racks. Looks like they've done this throughout Hollywood too according to http://la.streetsblog.org/2009/06/24/ladot-converts-former-meters-into-bike-racks-in-hollywood/ which is where the photo is from (never mind the cable lock ;P). Here's to hoping the cops in that area have caught those bike theives that have been grinding through rails..

 Well, I parked in front of Chili's in Westwood Village the other day, and saw this. Someone took a grinder or whatever tool to the bike rack, and cut out a clean chunk of it. Sorry the picture is so crappy, this was at night. I was shocked to see how thin the rack really was, and to think i thought they were sturdy. Bah!!
