it's a paced 94. anticipated time of finish is around 6.5 hrs just trying to hold that zone 2 hr for as long as we can. expect a realtime pace of around 16-17 mph with minimal lights.
First actual stop is going to be in Chatsworth about 30 miles from the start, so bring water, and food things. the point is to try to consume while expending energy for a no net gain or loss.

Wish I could go with you guys on this ride and the training camp. I have to reign over the Coaster Brake Challenge. I also had a bad accident this past weekend. I would suggest if you can to do the first and last climbs of the first day, along with the last climb of the second day on sunday(starts in Lone Pine). The last climb of each day will really test your ability to keep pedaling.
Just remember when you think you must be near the top, because you have been climbing for an hour, your halfway.
The last climb of the first day I found myself averaging 6-7 miles per hour. Which makes that climb 2 1/2- 3 hours.
If your knees start to hurt, stop and stretch. Take some IBprofin with you. Make sure you don't plan on eating to much solid food during the ride at altitude. I ate alot of dried apricots and almonds. They are pretty easy to digest.
I suggest a product like Hammer's multi hour endurance drink(some protien) Make sure you are taking a sports drink mix you are used to drinking. If you start a new one or use something you are not used to, the altitude will tear you apart.
The tour tops out @ 8500-9000, remember that the 3 climbs mentioned for you to ride are harder than almost every climb in the Tour and Giro.
If anyone has any questions, I have done this race/ride 3 times and every time it is a brutal mental game. You should not even attempt to show up if you are not ready physically.
This is way more a mind game than a physical game.

no that is not recommended. this is a routine training ride for the seasoned racer, relatively easy. this is still a hustle for all others. you will need to know how to sit on wheels.
mtbs, may get dropped in the first couple miles.

I'm going up little T to placerita canyon and back. If anyone wants to join me. I'll drop by noho metro but you have to be ready at 8 am. Its a nice 54 mile loop , maybe do a couple of detours. There's a road up to the fire station at the top of little T. And maybe if I'm feeling lucky well shoot up to castaic which will add another 20 miles. Anyone???
