Don't Call it 'Frisco/420 Ride

Sometime in late April/420 I want to put on a San Francisco ride.
Some essential stops should include - Union Square, Sutter-Stockton Tunnel, Broadway Tunnel, Lombard St (the twisty part), Van Ness Ave, Geary St., and a Portola/Market St. downhill run.
Ride ends at Zeitgeist, the only bar i know that could accomodate a grip of Ridazz...
Working on a map now... Should have one up by tonight!

here's the tentative route. it's pretty hilly, but a little shorter than your average ride, at just shy of 18 miles.

Starts at Haight/Stanyan, the entrance to GG Park.
Rest stops at Union Square, Hamilton Square, Sloat & 19th, and the top of Portola (there's a grocery store there).
Highlights include Haight Street, Chinatown, two tunnels and probably the most beautiful city view I've ever experienced (Portola/Market).
Ends at Zeitgeist!

Replace the Sloat & 19th rest stop with Larsen Park.

I'd be down for this ride, but just to warn you - that straight shot down geary is pretty boring, but for real, once on 19th watch your back because people do not give a fuck down on that street. It looks like the longest stretch of hill is between mile 6ish and 13. I'm sure it's nothing you can handle and the ride down portola will be the shit, but that little 5ish mile section makes me think twice. Maybe you can have this coincide with the SF critical mass? Dunno. Just a suggestion. Other places to hit up that would be interesting, the Marina (imagine mocking down Lombard with all those prissy d-bags), down Embaracardo, the more of the Mission, again, just suggestions.
Let me know how it shapes up and when it is!
P.S. If you want an even crazier downhill have people take a detour down Clipper when up by Diamond Heights/Twin Peaks - it's a work out if you're on fixed!

BTW, been speaking with one of the organizers of a SF Ridazz offshoot, The Stoney Rollers, about putting together a SoCal/NorCal Ridazz event in the bay.
Maybe this could be it?

How would an sf theme ride go? Take lots of hills? Wear bike messenger tubes?

I'm trying to get the SF/LA Ridazz ride planned to happen IN SF... The idea is we'd go up there for the ride, stay the weekend, ideally stay with some hospitable NorCal Ridazz or maybe bed down in a hostel or something (trying to work out good rates with Green Tortoise).
I'm talking to folks up there, but no clear plan has emerged. I don't know if its for lack of interest or what, but I'm also working on updating the route to make it a little bit shorter and more interesting.

Just curious about your ideas re: transportation up and back. Amtrak? Greyhound? Bunch of ridazz and bikezz in the back of somebody's van? Combo of the above?

as we get closer to the approximate date, it's looking like maybe this would be a better summer ride than something to rush forward with.
PC I'm thinking all of those suggestions are good ideas! however you can get there is the name of the game, carpooling, renting a van with lots of people, amtrak (my personal fave), riding your bike, whatever.
still haven't heard back from my SF contacts. :(
