This VW campaign uses cycling as a metaphor in order to explain the concepts of their technology. It's pretty great marketing, in my opinion... and it's interesting that the mechanics of cycling is so universally understood that it can be used as a teaching tool.
It's also interesting that there aren't any cars in these commercials... That by using a bicycle, the ad evokes the simplicity and sustainability that they're trying to associate with their brand.
I hate car commercials in general. Most are all about "look at how this computer generated special effect makes our car look all cool and shit" and dumb ass actors who need a shave driving the machine up a vertical wall or over the Grand Canyon.
This one takes the same unrealistic approach (because its cool and because we can) but actually tell a compelling consumer benefit story.
I give it one thumb up on the Thing-O-Rater.
