My thumb.

So today while I was lubing up my chain today.. For whatever reason I put my left thumb between the crank and the chain while it was spinning.. and it hurt like a mother fucker. There was blood everywhere.. My thumb is now swollen and is in throbbing pain.. The lesson is, don't be an idiot and a retard like me and put your thumb in the crank while it's spinning.
I think I need a new thumb.

i've known a couple of people who did that. it's going to take a very long time to heal because of all the grease. you might want to consider going to the doctor now, even if it doesnt seem that bad.
or you can invest in one of these:

This technique is super-duper not recommended with a motorcycle, by the way.

This happened to me a little bit back. I was lubing the chain on my bike and decided it was a good idea to wipe the excess off with a paper towel while it was spinning. When i went to clean it off, i grabbed it and the chain kinda took me with it and into the teeth of the crank. luckily, the towel i was using went in first and jammed it up so it didnt massacre my finger.
That pictures pretty sick dude, hope you heal up.

one day i went to wipe the excess lube of my chain. as i was doing this my cat fell off the couch so i turned around and let my finger move with the chain into the cog. one tooth of the cog punctured straight though the center of my index finger nail. i pull it out and all i can see is a bubble of blood on my nail. i get up, walk to the kitchen, grab a glass of ice water then lay down right there with my finger in the glass. i then nearly pass out from the pain. the tooth of the cog had gone into my bone.

you're lucky you didn't lop off the tip of your finger.
FIXED gears keep the whole crank moving forward...so it's worse with a fixed gear...
put your finger in ICE...and elevate it, to keep the blood from flowing in and swelling
i'd keep the finger in ice as long as you can bear it
and take a pain killer...
or have a drink, to dull the senses...
but I wouldn't mix the pain killer with the drink...
if it gets worse in the next day or so, go visit the Doc
