ALMOST CLIPPED!

by a fucking car turning left in front of me the other night. I had everything in my favor, BRIGHT ASS blinking minewt night rider riding in straight predictable line until I had to swerve last fucking minute as this fuckface turned left into a parking lot. if I wasn't more on the ball and swerved harder I would have collided with the car or a parked car on my right as I weaved that shit. I wanted to go back and give him a piece of my mind but fuck it I was already on to the next episode of "Stupid drivers: Extreme edition"

I agree. The only ways that anyone seems to learn to pay attention is to a) be TOLD to pay attention or b) be personally involved with a cyclist in their own life/relationships. Sometimes you need to be like "hey buddy, don't be a DICK. You almost killed me & messed up someone else's car, too" (sometimes if you bring up the insurance risk of another vehicle, that freaks 'em out...)

You should really start using your height intimidation power to make most of these shit drivers shit their pants.
You're a natural giant, while these fools are usually of average size and aside from pushing paper at a desk, haven't seen much physical activity to keep them at the most basic of physical prowess levels.

my height aint shit when these pussies have 4000 pounds of steel protecting them! though I have had OK results when they get caught at the lights. I'm batting .666 so far in fist fights and "get the fuck out of your car bitch" confrontations though no one has knocked me out just a chin check

That's what I meant, their always going to be shielded by their machine, but as soon as they stop, it breaks down, or runs out of fuel, these fuckers become the defenseless.
And unless they have a CCW(highly unlikely given the favoritism politics of most CA Counties) or they're packing illegally(they must really be asking for an ass-raping in the future prison sentence), then they're most likely unarmed and fair game once they make the fatal mistake of stepping out of the vehicle.
R.King time if they throw it up first.

"they're packing illegally(they must really be asking for an ass-raping in the future prison sentence)"
Many people who are packing illegally (usually thuggies) don't always get caught when killing innocent people, so that's not a guarantee.

Then again, this also isn't Arizona where those who are legal to pack will always keep it in sight.
And besides, most of these near-brushes seem to have involved shiny vehicles being driven by the aforementioned white-collar, desk-jockeys that I referred to in the first post.
Aside from already owning a deadly weapon that requires no FBI background check(shiny car, SUV, etc.,), they're most likely too chickenshit and law-abiding to the point they don't want to get caught with a concealed weapon.

just be glad LA has a cellphone law. i had so many close call with idiots on their phones in other states. in denver a light had just turned green and a women decided to start turning left as i was rolling through the intersection. we both stopped so fast i just fell of the side of the bike i was riding and the bumper of her land rover was about a foot from me. she was on the phone.

probably good that there is a law about that....
I was riding through the 2nd street tunnel on the right lane going north and some SUV i think would have run my ass over if I didn't change to the left lane to let them pass on the right..... they stopped at the light at the end, and I caught up and took a look at them to see what the fuck was up, and it was some lady on her cellphone, and her daughter.... gave them both the finger. they ended up pulling off to the side of the road like the should have been....

I don't think drivers register bikes as a big enough threat for it to be something that they look for, hence why even with lights they turn right in front of you.... They see it but they don't really see it....

I tend to make a lot of serious faces at drivers and I yell "HEY!" a lot, early, to make sure they know I mean business. So far it works.

I almost got creamed by a douchebag in a brand new F150 who was bobbing and weaving through traffic with his foot so deep in the gas the rear end was squirling. I followed him into a parking lot but he was gone by the time I got there. I wanted to leave a note on his car but I had to go in a local business to get a piece of scrap paper, and when I got back outside the truck was already gone.
Shoulda keyed my message into his brand new fenders.

I've found that carrying a puch of loose change comes in handy in situations like this for 2 reasons. 1) if the ass hole is behind you honking as if the bike lane is for his use reach in grab a hand full of change and just toss it straight up and watch in enjoyment how his front windshield turns into a spider web. 2) its light and travles pretty far when thrown ahead of you hahaha >:D

Riding safe and visible and paranoid can't save you from someone who is determined to drive as unsafely as they can. It's not that they don't see you, it's that they just don't care. If I were in a car when that F150 cut me off I would have been just as pissed... but less scared.
Also, for the record, I'm all talk and no walk... though the desire is strong, I would never commit (and have never committed) any of the heinous acts of revenge I love blithering on about. Two wrongs don't make a right, and it wouldn't really solve anything.
More to the point, I'm a non-confrontational sissy and I'd get beated up.

Well, getting your ass kicked is better than running away, like most of these PMS'd drivers tend to do.
Luckily for me though, the few potential fights I've almost gotten into never went beyond staredowns, shouting matches, or a shoving-fest.
