sam and a new guy adam had a head on collision on there bikes by moustach bridge last night (tacos).she got a ride from her parents and most likely broke her wrist.her fork was completely broke.they were both in the center of the bike path and going full speed ahead w/ no front light.me and adam were coming back from a beer/fire run and she from the bridge i was about to yell back to adam to get over but as soon as i turned back and opened my mouth they both crashed.i hope sam and adam are both okay.please update me on there conditions as i am worried for both.adams frame and fork are bent so bad his back tire touches his front.also his eye was cut.it was really scary to watch the crash

i love how theres millions of threads about how we need more bike lanes yada yada, when these kids don't know how to ride safely in one.
general knowledge of how to ride should be first priority

This is a repost from the Taco thread. My name is Alex, not Adam.
Thanks Louisiana....I feel fucking horrible. She's such a sweet girl. I was meaning to get lights for a while and I feel completely responsible. My bike is thrashed, I fractured a rib, I have an orbital fracture on my left eye socket, and got 7 stitches on a long gash on my left eye. We took such a hit that I personally don't remember much. I walked to a pay phone and called my friend who picked me up. Needless to say I will not be riding for a long time, I'm too fucking shaken. I really meant no harm and I should of not gone so fast....FUCK! If there is anything I can do for Sam, anything, my email is raybanfandom@gmail.com. I hope to apologize to her and help out as much as I can. This should not happen....helmets and lights are so important, as well as keeping a straight mind while on a bike. If you are reading this Sam, please send me an email so I can do my part to relieve my guilt by showing you how sorry I feel. I will do anything you say, I feel horrible.

If I'm to ride again, I will have to do it smart this time. I need a new bike, but I'm starting with a helmet and lights. It sure sucks to be on the other side, just remember that. Wish you well bro.

Hope you heal up soon. Much respect for taking responsibility for this. Hopefully people will read this and buy a light and remember to be safe on the road.

Thanks Foldie. Riding around should be about being safe and having fun. If it ain't safe, the fun is sucked out like a vacuum. I'll heal up with time. Breathing hurts because of my fractured ribs, my gash is huge and ugly, and I'm seeing double from my left eye but I would still take a broken wrist on top of that if it meant that Sam somehow left the accident completely fine. And truth be told, the lights would of completely avoided the situation. The drinking definitely didn't help but I don't want to risk it ever again and plan on riding sober. This sucks on so many levels but believe me, I have learned my lesson. I hope Sam gets well soon. I met her last night and we rode to the beach from the river bed together and had a great conversation. When I found out it was her I hit, I felt like the biggest douche who ever lived. I can't stress enough how bad I feel and I can't stop thinking about her situation and what she went through. If this didn't happen last night, I can just imagine how much fun we could all have had.........Before I left my house yesterday, I told myself to get back inside and wait to buy lights....I even biked by a 99 cent only store and missed the opportunity to buy the lights that only last you a couple of days. If this helps anyone in anyway, I hope this tells people who ride without lights alot about what can go horribly wrong in the middle of having fun. And helmets might not seem too important but one last night could of saved me a fractured eye socket and a 1 1/2" gash. Lights would of made me visible and given me enough time to do a hard brake once I saw her coming. Not drinking would of given me more discretion and helped me not ride like such a maniac. In fact, I did EVERYTHING bad. Though shit I guess, but I would of loved to have crashed against a pole or something instead of Sam. I do take complete responsibility and I do hope Sam get through it and makes a complete recovery.

The Ballona Creek Bike path has claimed more than a few victims.
I've seen a lot of bad crashes on it.
