Omygawd!! I'm so excited. Bike Polo Sarah and I had an amazing idea last night. We both like to bake. Theres plenty of people who do so. Why not meet up and share recipes? Bake for each other! Don't know how to bake/cook? We'll teach each other!
Vegan, Raw, Glutten free, ect. recipes and attempts are VERY WELCOME!
Because I want to learn. Dont you?

i think nicole and erin were discussing creating an eastside craft club to happen on the mondays that the westside craft club doesn't fall on. i think thats a great idea, so if we choose, we can do both!
i think that would be a great option to discuss with them though. baking = awesome.

I just want to echo and elaborate on Sheli's remarks.
CRAFT CRAFT CRAFT CLUB is really Nicki and Sheli's baby. If you're going to have an event, and use the same or similar branding, it would be polite to ask both of them for their blessing first. If you haven't spoken with b>Nicki yet, then making plans like this is, in my opinion, bad form.

I again apologize and I hope people still arent thinking this is a craft club extension (I pointed out in a previous post) If I could change the forum name I would. I dont want it to clash on the days of Craft club as well. Furthermore I would love for (you guise) Sheli and Nicki to come. Theyr'e awesome. I mean baking Nom Nom. I messeged both Nicki and Sheli personally apologizing. I didnt originally invisioned for it to be an extension of CCCC. I was just so excited about the idea, I hastily used CC on the thread name because I thought it would catch the attention of people who are generally interested in being creative, be it crafts or baking. I should have been more informed and had consideration.
But that being said. Let us not conflict with the day that Craft Club is on. And Lets get to thinking of a name. :D

Actually, I kind of like the double entendre, although I hadn't thought of it. If we're going to do this every week, I don't like Tuesday or Thursday (TNS and Bicykillers). I do like Wednesdays, pre-ride on Fridays, and alternate Mondays from CCCC.
Can I tempt you to my kitchen? This is what it looks like when I'm baking.

my place is open.
its close enough that you can take the last train at 12:17 AM without a hassle.
I would also like to start cooking for more people since i know a lot of folks around here don't get home cooked meals anymore because its too much to cook for 1 or 2 people.
den dinner seems to happen on the westside which is always too far for me to make it.
hosting 10 people at my house is not a problem especially since my neighbors are cool.

I have a 10 lb. bag of sugar. And I'm looking into the purchase of a 25 lb. bag of flour.
If more temptation is needed, I have a garage for bike parking, no locks needed. The only downside, I'm currently koshering my kitchen. It won't be ready to use for another week or so, and it will have to be kept kosher. That basically means no meat and ask before taking anything out.

I just got home and caught up with all this now. But I'm tired and it makes little sense. I have a good, happy kitchen less than a mile from the redline (yay, close!). But Sarah has all the wondrous baking supplies that I do not. (I DO have plenty of measuring cups, lol.) I don't know what day you picked...I don't see it on the calendar over there. I am liking that Krista's next to the red line because I'm sure people would be bringing added stuffs for their dishes. Supplies, bakeware, vanilla extracts, ect. I dont know...I kinda vote for Krista's house. I know I have to ride a long way just to get to a red line and if west siders come out I'm sure they do to...getting off the train and into a home would be great.

We can probably split into 2-3 groups and bake different stuffs. Ovens have racks...so, if they have the same temp. we're good. Or we can just hang out and learn and stuff, while some of us bake, whatevs. My friend was teaching me how to make bread last night, and said she could show us how to make awesome bread knots. I ate soooo much good bread last night.

Ummm...I just had an idea.
Would you Bike 'n Bake folks be willing to bake up a storm sometime and donate your creations to a fundraising bake sale for the Ridazz Bus. We need money for insurance, paying for a couple of people to get a Class A license to drive it (and the Ridazz!) around, maintenance, and all kinds of other costs.
Anyways, just a thought. It would be so very exciting to show off your creations, and have it help the Ridazz Bus!

I went shopping! Okay, I'll be bringing a gallon of cake flour and probably a few pounds of sugar. I have a bunch of eggs, but I'm worried about biking with them. Are there any other basics that we need? I have Costco sized versions of everything, I just need to know to bring it. Oh, and I was thinking that people would provide any specialty items needed for their recipes, but could someone provide one cup of Irish Cream? I'm not allowed to buy it.

Pweese bwing all your specialty items. I.e. - I'm going to bake s'mores cupcakes, so I need to get some marshmallow creme, graham crackers, etc.
Flour, sugar, eggs, butter - we will have those here in large amounts.

haha you don't have to bring anything- we have a communal supply of basic ingredients you're welcome to use. Or you could come just to hang out. Be prepared to help though- we'll often set unoccupied people to work stirring and such.

We had fun in Sarah's big kitchen! It's 2x's the size of mines, if not more. Sarah made yum yum yummy matzo ball soup & butter cookies. I got down with a trio of puddings - vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. Awesometastic to say the least.

My house. Italian pool party! Bring swim gear as well as the usual recipes. Start is earlier too- arrive anytime in the late afternoon. We want to try and have food out of the oven by 9 pm.

I want to coordinate pizza making with Krista. I think everyone should get in on it a bit, though. Calzones? Deep dish? Thin crust? my arm was sore this weekend, but my injury has been succeeded by worse injuries, lol. a little roughness on the polo courts gave me a nasty bruise on my knee and i'm generally sore from more games this last week than i've played in a month ever and i'm terribly clumsy so i hit my head on a tree yesterday. go ahead, laugh, it was funny.

The redline is perfect. Get off at the last stop (NoHo) and go west on Chandler, left on corteen, and you're here in 10 minutes, and that's at a slow pace!
Hector - i don't have the egg substitutes because they are at sarah's, like much of our baking supplies!
I have lots of oranges, and we'll definitely do a store run, but regular markets I know don't carry that kind of stuff. I've checked.

Hey all,
There are some new rules in effect for BikeNBake, please take note:
Since it's tough to control the noise level of a crowd that's used to being outdoors, BikeNBake is going to end at 12:30. Please be mindful of your own noise level after 10 - We can still have fun without so much loudness (I don't mind it, but my neighbors do). This way the cops won't get called on me for a third time, and everyone who needs to can catch the last train home.
If you guys want to hang out longer, the NoHo park is 5 minutes away between my house and the red line station, and we can all go down there and continue the fun, or initiate a post-gorging ride around midnite.

Bike N' Bake Halloween edition is pending! There will be baking! And baking! AND pumpkin carving and spooky fun times woo!
Please weigh in on scheduling - here's the situation right now: Monday, the 26th is out b/c the valley's public meeting to comment of the bike master plan is that evening. Please come if you are a valley resident who puts your butt on a bike.
Next Monday is actually a special Monday Night Rehab...I'm not sure I want to conflict with that, but it is a possible possibility.
What I'd like to know, is would ya'll show up on a Tuesday night of either of these coming weeks? And if so, which would be best?
@Danya, do you have class on Tuesday nights?

Sometimes simple is best. You can't go wrong with a perfectly baked Challah, Golden brown outside, warm, soft, yellowy egg bread inside. Carbs at their best!
And, of course - though predictable - there's Latkes.
Throw in some Baron Herzog (kosher) wine, and we're set.

MMM... the problem with challah is that it takes forever to bake- the shortest decent recipe I have needs 5 1/2 hours.
Latkes... I'm considering them. We made some delicious latkes the night Wolfpack visited Bike 'n' Bake, they could totally stand a recurrence.

years ago - in another life, really - there was a lot of bread baking in my life. Few things compare with the smell of fresh bread baking, except eating said bread once it's done.
I will gladly stand by and support the efforts of the hallowed bread baker - whether scrambling for ingredients or freshening cocktails - so long as I can have a taste of the freshly baked loaf later (but it's really the smell that does it...)

Any kind of blintzes, really.
You just can't go wrong with blintzes - a great food item, and almost the perfect word. Maybe chevalier beats it, or maybe thud (a favorite onomatopoeia from way back) but neither of those taste as good as a blintze.

i don't know about posting my address/a map up here, but i guess vague descriptions are ok for those of you that didn't email krista... bronson ave./country club dr. a block south of olympic and a block east of crenshaw. if you're heading south on bronson, it's the two story apartment building on the left just past country club with the stairs outside. you'll probably see/hear/smell us.
if you go up the driveway you can put your bike in my parking spot in back (second from left) and go up the back stairs.

Seriously awesome, wow! All the food came out great, everything was devoured, momz got me hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. Droobz & Matt rocked it at the dough rolling! So much win.
