Bicyclist fatally shot near Mar Vista
Police said the male victim was in his early 20s and died at an area hospital.

A man in his early 20s was shot and killed this morning near Mar Vista, police said.
The man was riding a bicycle in the 4400 block of Slauson Avenue at 12:45 a.m. when one or more assailants in a dark-colored Ford SUV drove up and shot him, said Los Angeles Police Officer Sara Faden.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he later died, Faden said.
Police did not release the victim's name or descriptions of the assailants this morning.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact investigators at (310) 482-6334..

WTF. I live in Mar Vista. It's hardly a rough neighborhood. Maybe this is shitty to say, but I hope it's some beef between known people (or gang-related) and not just a random, senseless drive-by shooting of a random biker. I ride all over around here.

Possibly, but no one could come up with any details, news articles or hospital reports, so it may have just been a rumor.

the thing is we don't know if he was a "hood" we don't know the details. we don't know if it was an asshole like me who doesn't take any shit from any fucking driver and he got popped for defensively talking shit to some latino,black,asian,white or whatever race hoods or gang losers or some whaterver kind of losers they were. like blue collar types with poor or little education the drunken pissed off ignorant civilian types who aspire to be hoods (coz they are not hood enough). or it could be some harly riding fools or rowdy contractors with low IQs and high testosterone with guns... we don't know. I know we are all praying and hoping in our minds that it wasn't one of us and that it was one of them lost souls who's lost away in that madness. Im sorry but losing them is somewhat inevetible until more is done to help them when they are kids. don't get me wrong i still get sad when i hear those stories, but yes unfortunately hearing it was gang related does set some eaze in our hearts and minds because we'll know it wasn't one of us. if it was a rider there is a chance some of us knew him. Let's hope for the best.

in this case it could have been your average honest and humble hard working imigrant latino man riding his bike to work and back or to a better bus route. it could not be gang related. i'll read the article. i still hope no of us knew this guy. this is sad.

i hate agro drivers with guns. it's one of my biggest fears. we sometimes need bullet-proof vests and helmets out there.

I cannot believe something like this happened. I ride that intersection everyday. EVERYDAY! Sometimes at 2 am coming home from school, or 7 am going to work.
I am going to have a hard time getting this out of my conscience.
I wish there was more info on this crime. In no way is murder a suitable vengence for a traffic altercation (or any other), but I am hoping there was some sort of altercation between the people and the shooting did not come unwarranted. It scares me to think this is some sort of initiation crap.
Makes me want to start packin like a fuckin !@#$? ass gang member...
