Why L.A. drivers suck...

This bitch looked right at me, then made a left turn, I almost T-boned her... It's like being chased by a bunch of bulls. They're big, heavy, kinda fast(sometimes), and dumb as fuck! Fuck LA drivers!!!

that sucks.
were you making a left turn too? or going the other way?

I love it when they look right at you. Like "Yep, I'm gonna do this, I see you perfectly and I'm still doing this, it's happening!" Not even angry looking or impatient sometimes, just blank. Like a dumb animal.

if he is going to Tbone HER when she makes a LEFT turn....that fool was not riding where he was supposed to be riding.
cyclists do not own the fucking road! learn to share! shit

Im not sure I see it... at least from the OP...
If the driver was making a left, but looked right at the cyclist... then Im assuming the cyclist was on the drivers left-side (and also the reason he could have t-boned her), right?
okay, so then either the cyclist was riding on the wrong side of the road, or the driver made a left turn from the middle or right lane....
I've had car's do this... You're preparing to make a left turn (thus in the left turn lane), but the car doesn't want to wait and tries to cut you off by making the left from the other lane.

This shit happened to me on Wilshire and with a blinking bright front light. I was far right, they in the opposite lane turning left, they turned directly in front of me, I had to turn right as they turned left to avoid hitting them. They just looked at me mystified afterward. WTF? Not the only time. Some people just don't look for cyclists.

I just hate how everyone automatically blames the motorist when I see so much STUPID bike riding and cyclists not following rules.
I don't know almost 2 years of riding in LA (AND IN KOREATOWN..the WORST drivers in ALL LA, bar none) I have had very few close calls. (knock on wood) But that's not surprising, I'm a pretty good fucking bike rider.

Besides if he was coming from the opposite direction and your graphic is correct, he must have some super power eye sight to be able to see where the driver was looking.

i dont know... I feel like a pretty good rider... but there are a lot pretty fucking bad drivers... being a good bike rider means assuming A LOT about drivers.

safety is relative. i've seen plenty of "good" bike riders place themselves right in the door zone at high speed. i never do that, and i occasionally get shit from drivers and roadies for it.
im not trying to excuse doing hockey stops all over the wrong side of the road on your brakeless fixie, but even if someone is taking a lane when they don't need to, or getting over to make a left a little too early, that doesn't give a motorist a right to assault you with a deadly weapon.
if you point a loaded gun at someone without having any intention of pulling the trigger, that is assault with a deadly weapon. if someone tries to hit you with a car, they can blame it on your poor riding?
how about we stand up for cyclists who have no idea how to ride? they have rights too! they'll eventually learn to be good cyclists. we can't at once encourage more new people to ride bikes and then condemn them for not doing it right.
motorists have a responsibility for watching out for vulnerable road users, no matter what their skill level.

When you are riding you just have to
assume that drivers are going to do something stupid at any given time. With that sort of riding mindset I find I can avoid a lot of potential bad situations.

Hi,
Just to clarify. I was riding through Park La Brea Apt. area on Hauser, She(the driver) pulled out of her driveway on the right, she was making a left hand turn. I had the right of way, as she must of known the laws, because she stopped for the cars that had the right of way. I was even standing up pedaling hard going maybe 25mph. And yes I do ride with traffic, and I do respect traffic and the laws. I've ridden motorcycles for years and I've become very good at predicting drivers... It just still surprises me how bad people drive here. Even when I'm driving my car, it's unreal how bad people drive. Like I said before: Fuck LA drivers!!!

so i kinda second the whole LA drivers are bad
BUT NOT ALL OF THEM!
i'm a LA driver shit! i've almost hit some cyclist before
NOT MY FAULT THEY WERE SOME STUPID YOUNG KIDS THINKING THEY OWN THE ROAD
only 3 of them and the were taking up all 2 lanes. so i honk and yelled MOVE you fucking kids. and they just laugh so i stay behind them till they kinda move to the side after a bunch of cars start honking and one truck acting like a twat also hitting them
then we come up to a light the kids start track standing and some kid just falls on my car.
I YELL AT THEM WTF MOVE TO THE FUCKING RIGHT IDIOTS!
and they just talk shit
"what homie!?, we can be on the streets too!"
and i say "yeah i know dumbfuck! but not taking up all the fucking road up! learn to ride morons!"
then they see my I RIDE FIXIE sticker and they say
"oh you ride fixie too?"
but back to my topic
today i was riding down the street and some dumb lady is pulling out of a parking lot me riding on the right with traffic. going like 15mph
she doesn't seee me and almost hits me i move to the left and give her the finger and say look out stupid
so i let it be
then this old hag comes up to me a few blocks down saying wtf what did you say?
and i tell her WATCH OUT YOU BROAD
and she ggoes in front of me and me thinking this bitch is going to slam on her brakes i move to the left and she stops and she goes I HOPE YOU GET HIT BY A CAR and i'm like FUCK YOU go die.

i still sometimes think about this story that i'm about to tell and think if it was the right decision or not.......
(it's easier to visualize this story if you check out where i was riding on google maps)
i was riding southbound on hauser blvd between san vicente blvd and packard ave, heading towards pico blvd. it was late, and i heard a car coming from behind so i move safely to the right. right as the car gets next to me three girls in the car SCREAM at me.... like trying to get me to fall off my bike and fuck with me. it FREAKED me out and, startled, i yelled WOAH BUDDY when they screamed...i almost fell off my bike, and if i did, i would have landed on the road 2 feet in front of a moving car (and i would have been run over.... no way the car behind would've been able to stop in time.
after the incident the girls yell "BITCH!!!!", and throw a couple pieces of trash at me as they continue down hauser to pico blvd, where they hit a red light and stop. there's a relatively steep downhill to pico from packard, and even though i was planning on turning right on packard (towards my house), i grabbed my U-lock and decided to stay straight on hauser to the pico blvd light. I have the larget U-lock possible i believe they sell and it's prettydamn heavy... like 3-5 pounds. by the time i pass the car i'm going about 20-25 mph...... and i SMASHED their windshield.... like as hard as i could. I didn't see the damage..... but I heard glass hitting the pavement..... i just keep speeding and made a right on pico, two blocks to my house. they were behind a couple of cars so they couldn't chase after me
sometimes i think i was too harsh...... but i know they'll NEVER messwith bikers again....

PEOPLE are stupid, whether they're on a bike or in a car.
if every idiot driver in a souped-up subaru was replaced by an idiot cyclist with no brakes and an aerospoke, would anyone say that we're not better off?
would you rather there be 5 drunk kids riding slowly down the street hogging the lane, or a speeding astrovan with an unlicensed driver with no plates crashing into your car?
if you want PEOPLE in LA to stop being so stupid, keep dreaming.
you can only make the stupid less dangerous.

I was riding a couple days ago on Chandler away from NoHo Metro and these two obvious douchebag bro guys in a BMW come up behind me honking. There was obviously more than enough room for them to go around me, even if there was other traffic, which there wasn't at the time. So I asked them to obey the law. I dunno, first thing to come to mind, was a stupid thing to say I guess, because:
It pissed them off so much that they swerved around and braked checked me. The driver was flipping me off and his passenger was throwing his hands in the air like he's trying to tell me "what, are you stupid?" The driver made like he was thinking about getting out of the car to beat me up or something, but instead he made his point by swerving crazily back and forth between lanes and alternately accelerated / braked a few times before taking off.
I'm glad they didn't get out of the car because anyone who knows me knows I would have gotten beat up for sure.
Also my posts are too long-winded. Working on that...
