go to bikecrowave or something they have bike boxes
take it apart and put in the box and tape it up and what not
it'll be like a check in bag
25-50 to take with you

you just need to remove pedals, wheels, and handle bars.
depending on the type of bars you have you may be able to loosen them and turn them to the side.
Some people here have had horrible experiences in shipping. Make sure you protect your bike by wrapping it up and packing it tight. you don't want things shifting around and scratching up your bike.
Purpose built bike bags do exist.
Some places rent them, if you are taking a shorter trip.

ya my trips pretty short, from LAX to SALT LAKE CITY, only like 1hr 45min flight so. Who rents them i might just do that. seems it might be safer for my bike.

haha i meant if you are staying for a week or 10 days as opposed to a month.
the bike bags are arguably safer than a box and easier to handle.
I think Orange 20 has some for rent.

a good thing to also do is take the pedals and stuff you do take off. put it in a seperate bag and tell t hem its just BIke parts. not a 100% functional bike. it might be cheaper. i think its like 50 bucks to ship a bike no? any bike box from any local bike shop. they always work. but just make sure its the right size..

are you joking?
you are better off renting a bike for 3 days than paying the fee to check in luggage on an airplane.
You will spend x amount of time day 1 assembling the bike, and day 3 disassembling the bike...
Not worth the $$$ nor the time. Borrow or rent a bike.

or buy a clunker from a thrift store... Fuck, a brand new wall-mart bike would be cheaper than flying yours back and forth.
