Mix and match to get a correct bike fit. I advocate trying out multiple parts, when assembling a bike creation, or swapping out part(s) when you start a life with a 'pre-owned' bike. Different sizes of frames and parts, such as head tubes and stems being size 1" or 1 1/8", will often be a factor when swapping parts around. I think the most important consideration is what is called 'Bike Fit'. Make sure the ergonomics are correct.

dude had a point
thread titles like this don't give the reader a a clue as to what it's about, a lot of people won't even click into threads like that to see what they're about:
"what do you think about this?"
"would this work?"
"what if...?"
something like this gives the reader an idea of what the thread is about, you are more likely to get a reader that knows about the subject matter
"drop bar question"
"drop bar conversion?"
not being a dick or anything, but it really does help you in the long run to make a relevant thread title when posting on any message board
hope you figure out the conversion, peace!

Roll over to bikerowave / bike oven / bike kitchen and any of them should be able to hook you up with a set of drop bars from the used bin.

pretty much what he said.
if the frame is a good size for you you can experiment with different stems and bar styles to get good fit.
If you are too crunched over trying to get into the drops bullhorns are a good alternative.
