Storm the Bastille - ALERT
Thread started by
SoapBoxLA at 04.29.09 - 1:09 pm
LA's City Council will be meeting in the VAN NUYS City Hall on Friday.
6262 Van Nuys Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 91401
We're still Storming the Bastille.
We're still meeting at RedQuarters (Santa Monica & Vermont)
We'll jump on the Red Line to NoHo and ride out to Van Nuys.
Valley riders still meet at NoHo Red Line Station.
Get there early, get there on time, just get there!
1) Hummer vs. Cyclists Incident. We expect the LAPD to support the rights of cyclists.
2) Aggressive policing of cyclists. We fully expect the LAPD to support cycling, not crush it.
3) City Leadership. "What's it going to take for the largest City in the most populated State in the most powerful Country in the world to step up and make public safety on our streets a priority?"
reply
City Council trying to throw us off track?
Thanks for the detective work.

Actually Jeff, I was going to ask you to meet up at the Civic Center o help direct people there. Unless you want to ride out to NoHo and back. In that case, we're meeting at 8:30 and riding at 9:00 from the Red Line station.

We are planning to leave from REDQuarters (Santa Monica/Vermont red line station) at 8:30 AM NOT at 9. This will give us plenty of time to get to NoHo and then to Van Nuys. So be there on time! If you miss us, then just ride to NoHo and ride to Van Nuys from there.

Take a look through your bag to make sure you don't have any tools that could cause concern. (sharp things)
When they ask for ID, inform them that you are covered by the Brown Act, a State Law that guarantees you the right to attend public meetings without having to produce ID.
We're speaking during Public Comment which is for topics not covered by a specific agenda item.
Thanks for making it happen!

This is bullshit! We all need to support fellow rider ED MAGOS and STORM THE BASTILLE
On January 6, city employee and East Hollywood Neighborhood Council member Ed Magos was biking to work when he was hit by a Porsche Cayenne. The driver got out of her vehicle, checked briefly on the prone cyclist sprawled out in the street, ignored Magos' pleas for help and drove off. Magos was seriously injured and was carted away by the paramedics. The driver reported to an LAPD branch later in the day, reported she "might have hit something," and was let go with her license and expensive SUV still in her possession.
