BROOKS SADDLE REVIEWS?

I'm looking to get a Brooks Saddle for my road bike with touring bars.
what can you guys tell me about the 2 seats here--->
apparently that style brooks is ideal for riding in an upright position which i do most often.
do the springs make a huge difference?

from my experience with 5 brooks saddles. the 1st month or so your hatting the thing it to damn hard and by this point your regretting spending the money. but then all of sudden it starts to break in and all i have to say I can't ride anything else thats not my brooks saddles.

if you have ever owned a pair of Dr Martens you will know what the breaking in period feels like.

i'm hearing the same from a few other people that it's really uncomfortable the first 500 miles on it or so....which model do you use?

I ride with a b17 brooks... I cant see myself riding without that saddle, especially on long rides. The downside is the saddle is a bit on the heavy side but in my opinion and experience it is still the best saddle I have owned. I have not ridden the saddle with springs.

my brooks b17s was comfy from day 1 and i have it on my commuter bike. i bought a second one for my road bike, but that one didn't feel the same. i probably should've just adjusted the tension bolt..i hear that does a lot. instead i sent it to selle anatomica to get it modified with a cut out...bad decision. now i want to sell it =/
not sure what springs would feel like.

did the modification make your saddle sort of like the brooks swallow? just curious to how much you might let it go if you are considering selling it... let me know, maybe I can save up some cash to buy it off of you....

models i own:
team pro: one of brooks harder saddles to break in
b17: most common touring saddle
b66: spring saddle
brooks flyer, same top as b17 just with springs.
colt, my newest and by far harder than the team pro.
and i can say after the break in period they are all damn comfortable.

brad i have that one, the b68. its pretty comfy for upright riding! it was comfy directly out of the packaging as well. it didnt feel as hard as the b17

Hey I have the Pro and the Flyer...yes, the springs make a difference. Not as much as a seatpost with the shock absorber, but you can feel it.
Either one will be OK, which look do you prefer?

If you're not worried about weight go for the springer. I've been happily running one for quite a few years.

New Brooks saddles can be broken in faster if you soak the underside with neatsfoot oil. Turn the saddle upside down under a heat lamp such as a 100 watt bulb and let that hot oil soak in. Then after you install it roll a baseball bat or pipe over the areas your ass will
sit on. This works well to break up the intial stiffness and will expidite a custom fit.
Don't oil the top of the saddle, cause it will look like you shit in your pants.

I own a Brooks B68 and it's the most comfortable saddle I've ever owned or ridden on. I don't remember ever going through an "adjustment" period either. I think you'll be happy with it and not regret spending the dough on it.

yeah the b17 is on a fixed.
my 2 cents the b17 is good out of the box, comfortable, the only problem I have with it is because i have thicker thighs than most the b17 is a little too wide for my anatomy.
I prefer the Brooks Colt because of its narrower profile. the team pro also does me good.
b17 comfortable out of the box, shorter break in period.
colt, team pro : narrower harder to break in.

well it's the women's version so it's a shorter nose (not sure if you're a guy/lady). it isn't broken in very much and i just got the cutout in march. i spent 140 overall on this so ideally i'd like 100 for it. here's a pic (hope this works)
