Dialog from Critical Mass, from the Point of View of a Not Entirely Clueless Pedestrian

So, on Friday night at nine-ish, user "Kakihara" and I are walking eastbound on Sunset. We're kind of near Silversun Liquor when we both notice what looks like a small-to-medium-sized group ride heading west.
I inquire of one young kid on a track bike: "Hey, what ride is this?" He thinks about it for a good three or four seconds while wobbling along and looking back at me, and finally shrugs his shoulders and rides on.
Kakihara asks the same of another kid, who stares straight ahead for a second with a look of incomprehension before answering, "K-Town."
The third time is the charm: asked what ride he is currently participating in, a rider shouts back "Critical Mass!"
This post is dedicated to you, third rider. You give me hope. Our lucky stars be thank'd, we still live in a world where at least some of the people in the bike scene actually know what ride they're on.
(And yes: a few minutes later the main, non-mashing group shows up and there are a fuck ton of them, rendering the question unnecessary in retrospect. But that's not the point, man.)

how many crashes did you see while observing the ride roll past?

None, amazingly. Just a lot of people not holding their line because, you know, that slight incline from Parkman/Silver Lake toward Maltman is a real killer and requires extensive zig-zagging.

you're lucky you saw it there........ SOMEBODY (i wont name them) decided to lead the ride and make a right turn on CORONADO from sunset blvd heading westbound, on the downhill, just to come back to sunset on benton wy. a LOT of people crashed on the turn and it wasn't good news

I am surprised I didn’t hear 3083 people yelling at me to “GET A BIKE”
Some friends I live with were walking around the neighborhood with the dog and I guess they got “if you rode a bike you’d be home by now” or something similar. That is fucking hilarious. WHAT??? They didn’t want to be home!!! Why the fuck would they want to be home? They just left home to go walk around.
Bahahah

Ha. And yes, they say: when the student is ready, the teacher appears.
