Wife Bike

So I found a bike that would be perfect for my wife but I think it may be too small. It's a road bike and supposedly it's a 42cm with a 27" stand over.
My wife is just about 5'4''.
Survey says:
too small / might work / just right (Circle one)

What is her inseam length? I'm tall, but my 5'6" wife can straddle the top-bar of my bike because she has the same inseam length as I do.

it's probably too small, but it might work if you use lube, then it'll be just right.

Where did you find a 42 frame???
I'm 5'3 and have short legs and it is ridiculous to find that. I was lucky to find my zebra which is a 44' I can clear the top bar just fine with my heels on...

I'm going with NOT ENOUGH INFORMATION.
But pro'lly leaning towards the too small side.
On the up-side, I have a bike I'm selling that is a 52cm. It was my wifes, but it's too small for her. It's an aluminum frame Trek 1200 with 105 group.

you do have options...there are frames that are designed to use 650 cc size wheels instead of the 700 cc wheels that are the road standard...
unfortunately those frames tend to be pricey...
check out Calfeedesign.com or desalvocycles.com for a start...
or...zanconato.com
but anyone who fabricates custom frames, can fabricate something the right size!
