Ridazz trip. Start saving for airfare. I got relatives there. We'll figure it out.

I've ridden in Amsterdam. It's kind of a clusterfuck, especially if you're trying to keep something other than a quaint, stately "European" (that is, slow) pace. Coming to any kind of intersection or crossing in Amsterdam when other cyclists are involved is a little like being on an MR ride full of drunk newbies, but with everyone going in different directions. Fine if everyone is going 2 MPH, dicey otherwise. I feel more comfortable and secure on the streets of LA.
I have to say that I wish people would not have such starry eyes about "Amsterdamizing" or "Copenhagenizing" and think a little more about a transportation/cycling paradigm that is better suited to the balmy, spread-out city they actually live in.
Sure, pictures of young, conventionally attractive Caucasians cycling in dresses and suits can be mildly and passingly cute. It's fun to pretend and have fantasies but we live where (and when) we live. Sorry if I'm harshing anyone's mellow. :)

So would I; I just wouldn't stick around until the morning. And that, my friend, is the root of our irreconcilable political difference.
