 because the left side of the brain controls the right hand, and vice versa, thus, it is difficult to compare brain scans between left and right handed individuals. simplest way to get around it is to look only at right handed individuals only.

keep in mind, other things may prevent you from being (MRI) scanned as well, such as non-removable metal jewelry, heavy tattoos, major dental work, cosmetic/surgical implants, and if you are on some medication (legal or illicit).
