BLUE ROOSTER
A tiny shop with a big heart.
Aaron Bros, it 2 blocks from my house but I happily go the extra mile to shop at Blue Rooster, cause the service there is awesome.

Blick is for dicks. Really!
People in the know shop at Blue Rooster. Students gets 10% off. Shopping there is almost -- I repeat almost -- as cool as building a fixie from a vintage Italian steel frame that has been repainted with no decals, and having mismatched wheels.
Moi? I buy my linseed oil from naturalpigments.com.

I don't know how cheap you can expect oil paints to be unless you stick to series 1 tubes . Or go down to student grade tubes (mostly oil, not so much pigment)
you can cut some corners with some supplies. Maybe go to a hardware store for paint thinner (expect impurities). I have seen people use citrus cleaners as paint thinner and brush cleaner. You can also get stuff like masonite for a cheap painting surface if canvas is too expensive, if you're going to use canvas.
