My Bicycle <3

This is my bicycle. There are many like it, but this one is MINE. My bicycle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My bicycle without me is useless. Without my bicycle, I am useless. I must ride my bicycle true. I must ride stronger than my enemy in cars who are trying to kill me. I must drop them before they drop me. I will... My bicycle and myself know that what counts on the streets is not the clothes we wear, the speed of our bursts, nor the smoke we inhale. We know it is the ride that counts. We will ride... My bicycle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its parts, its accessories, its gears, and its shifters. I will ever guard it against the ravages of weather and damage. I will keep my bicycle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will... Before all of the universe I swear this creed. My bicycle and myself are the defenders of my soul. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.

"Cool Runnings"
This is my custom vintage Schwinn beach cruiser. Out of all my bikes, this is most definitely my favorite and is very near and dear to my heart. I spent painstaking hours deciding on color schemes and the style of the bike (although powdercoat and pinstriping didn't come out exactly as I envisioned). Most vintage Schwinn collectors would guffaw at this bike....practically every part is wrong for that year (1950) and frame, from the chain guard to the handlebars, to the lack of fenders and BMX drive train (for performance). But this is my design. Fuck original. This is originality.
My cruiser doesn't look like much from afar, but look close. No, closer... you'll notice the subtle and elegant pinstriping and my father's master craftsmanship. Sharp eyes will notice that strict attention was paid to every minute detail, from custom bolts on the springer fork, to the custom engraved seat post clamp, to the bmx pedals with the spikes shaved off for comfort riding barefoot. Everything done to my specifications. There is no other bike in the world like this.
But it's appearance is nothing compared to how it rides. Gigantic springs in the seat make you feel as if you are sitting on a plush sofa. The handlebars are in just the right spot. And to top it all off, it's got a 2-speed kickback (striped green to match the bike and piss off the purists), rebuilt by my father to work flawlessly. This bike is guaranteed to be the smoothest riding, most comfortable bike on the boardwalk and thus, it's name "Cool Runnings" appears hand-painted on the chain guard.
Peace be the journey.

This is my first bike dubbed the "The Bus" ..its heavy, yellow and I love it to death. Its a 73 Schwinn Varsity I payed 60 bucks for. It got the name from me getting doored and was able to ride away ... Its a single speed coaster brake ... no elaborate paint scheme just vintage the way it is. It has black wheels like a bus and red chain for the stop sign like a bus ..... Many long hard rides up and over cahunega .... It taught me to never quit as I had to peddle way faster to keep with everyone .... I though about selling it .. but .... I just cant ...

well i dont have any pictures on me specifically of my bike but i found this one in the gallery, you can see most of it.
it's a black Trek 3700 MTN bike...... yes, i ride the mountain bike. That's what i'm famous for i believe. It's only a couple years old.... it was bought new sometime in 2008, and there's nothing special at all about it really. but i love it with all of my heart. I've never owned a road or track bike. I've been riding with MR since august 09, and this is the only bike i've ever taken out on a ride. I've put at least 4-5,000 miles on this thing in total since i bought it. I've rode to pasadena, hansen dam in the valley, Downey, and so much more. This bike is my car and i love everything about it. the only non original parts are the handlebars and the seat. It is simple but the experiences i've had with it mean the world to me. I have climbed almost every canyon in the hollywood hills and santa monica with this thing. I've taken it to the top of multiple mountains, have climbed over 1600 feet with it, and plan for much more, i have been on the beach and the tops of mountains where i can see the whole city. I take trails through wilderness, ride through the city at rush hour, hit any potholes, never get a flat. almost every ride i go to, someone asks me, how you doin on that mountain bike? they see it as large and hard to push...... i cant see it any other way. i dont even want to get a road bike anymore...... any ride you can do with your road bike i do with my mountain bike. i love this thing so much i'm just gonna roll with it for as long as i possibly can until it doesn't work anymore.......then i'm gonna frame it and put it on my wall. I never have to worry about people wanting to jack it (although i do anyway) and i'm going to ride to san francisco with it one day this coming summer. there's a buttload of spoke cards throughout the wheels..... and it means everything to me

Barcelona
This is Barcelona. She's been with me for about 5 years now. When I got into legal issues with the DMV, she was the one that would take me to and from work, over in Woodland Hills when I worked for Blue Shield. She started out a road bike... but little by little her age started to show. First, one of the cables for my gears snapped and almost fucked me up. Then the derailleur snapped and I haven't been able to find the same vintage Shimano one to replace it. So I converted her to a single speed and really loved coasting down hills.
One day, early in the morning as I was riding to work a car merged into me and sent me sprawling all over the street and once it made its right just kept on going. I noticed my rim was badly bent and had Paul at Atomic Cycles see if he could take it out... but it was all for naught. It was time to buy a new one. LEE from Bicykillers had a pair of wheels for sale and I convinced him to sell them to me. I didn't realize (true story) that the wheel set was for a fixie. The chain wouldn't stay on and it just wouldn't work. I took em to Paul and he kindly told me I needed a new chain, explained to me the difference and voila... been riding fixed ever since.
My girlfriend named her Barcelona. She'll be a roadbike one day once again.

Shimano XT Deerhead components
This is probably less interesting on MR for a number of reasons, but I really enjoy this bike. It is not my favorite bike, nor does it hold much sentimental value. What makes this bike special to me (wait, is that sentimental?) is the rugged "Eff-your-fancy-bike" look. Okay, maybe it doesn't have a rugged look, I just feel like I'm riding an old beast when I take it for a spin.
It absorbs Santa Monica blvd potholes better than my other bikes. It has a 2.1" front and 1.95" rear Town & Country tires.
Added Origin 8 space bars because I had them lying around. Though I dislike nearly all Origin 8 products, I think the bars are their best knock off product (i like the Marys). The bike is not in collectors condition. There are scratches, small rust spots and the nipples are oxidized, but everything is sound and in great condition.
The great thing about this bike: It is 24 years old, and is probably more versatile than most bike options out there. I think it will be my xtracycle guinea pig in the near future, and serve as a general around town hauler. For now, it is my other commuter bike (platform pedal option) for grabbing goods, and when I need to ride 4mph with my girlfriend.
Enjoy!

My bike is a Felt F55 2007. I got it off craigslist.. i got it for just under a grand and it came with dura ace components. i was stoked on that. .ive had no problems in the 4 months that ive had it. my previous bike was an old centurion i fixed. i put alot of miles on that one every week( at least i thought it was alot at the time) but i wasn't able to really take cycling seriously untill i got this bike. and im so glad that i did because i found that i have a genuine passion for the sport .. I dont see me needing to buy a new bike for a long time ...she is good to me ...we are in love

This is Hareford āitās a vintage Univega Superstar, step-through, lugged, steel lover of mine. My first bicycle (Iāve only had 2).
I never had a bike as a kid, actually taught myself how to ride a bike when I was 20something inside of a Target store. I would pick up their half pumped, heavy ass bikes and ride around the store hoping to (not) trample little kids along the way. I had no idea what kind of bike I was picking up, just about anything that looked my size or smaller so I felt safe with my feet touching the floor. A friend of mine suggested we check out some garage sales or thrift shops together. She wanted a bike so we could ride around instead of walk around china town very late in those summer nights. Sounded fun. I wanted something with a basket so I could carry nothing on my back and ride to the park with food, booze, and books to study or just hang out. Nothing serious, just nearby shit. Also wanted something with coaster brakes because I did not trust anything else at the time ahhaha.
Then I moved away and forgot about this for a while. Later on I met neverclever and Reverend Dak who got me interested in bikes again. I found a purple Mongoose at Kmart for $80 but I thought it was too much for something that would need a lot of care and upgrade. I knew it was time for me to learn about bikes and check out some co-ops instead so the āsearchā went on although I was not too eager because I had still never ridden a bike outside so I had no clue what to expect. I didnāt want to waste all this time and money only to ride around a few times then decide this was not my thing. I didnāt (and still donāt) feel comfortable riding a bicycle which did not belong to me, not that any of my friends had a bike I could fit.
Autumn ā06 we were going to some Banksy thing (I had to use this to look up the year!) and I was told a mutual friend of ours had a small bike I could borrow and that I should test it out when we got home. I expected to see her green bike waiting for me, but instead I found a bike covered in fancy pants wrapping paper with a fucking BOW on it. WHAT?!??!?!? Apparently Dak and neverclever were at St Vincent de Paul thrift store and out of all the junk, found this beauty for me!! I couldnāt believe it! I had been to St Vincentās for months looking for something workable and didnāt find any hope.
Anyway, they had the bike hidden in a garage for a month or so. They got the wheels trued for me, tuned it up, cleaned it up and gave it to me as an early birthday gift. At 23 I finally got on a bike and rode around Eagle Rock for a few blocks. A lot of pot holes around and I was gripping the handlebars like a motherfucker! Neverclever asked me why I was so tense and if I was scared, I told him yes of course I am scared it was my first time on a bike outside!!! It felt amazing and I was addicted. Unfortunately I wasnāt able to ride around for about a year because of a few things but finally got things taken care of and brought my bike to my new home and started riding!
Since then it has gone through many changes and as of recent has become my desert bike but I still love it and donāt ever see myself parting with it. I named it Hareford because of a pink bunny painting by Jeana Sohn.
Ok I go work now
