C.R.A.N.K. MOB 3.0
Thread started by
CRANK MOB at 03.14.10 - 1:52 pm
C.R.A.N.K. Mob owned the streets of LA last night. About 70 of the most dedicated Crankers showed up with costumes, fireworks, jump ropes, chalk, and brought the PARTYTIME!!! No stealing, No Tagging, No Drama... Exactly what it's supposed to be. C.R.A.N.K. Mob is back: **TOP SECRET** status. Thank you ALL for making last night the BEST MOB EVER.
You'll have to keep your ears open to hear about future rides. If you don't rock the F.U.N. vibes, then don't even bother coming. COSTUMES ARE MANDATORY!!!!
Last nights ride was a word of mouth ride only. Each person told was able to tell 2 others, and each of those could tell 2 more and so on.
LA is sick of the shit that happens on rides:
Stealing, Tagging, Stabbing!?!?!
This is the beginning of a new wave of riding - with respect.
Join us or GTFO.
p.s.- It won't always be word of mouth. CRANKMAS III will still be posted online for all to come in Sept.

I need a friend who can tell me about this next time.
(WHO WANTS TO BE THAT FRIEND?)
I'm practically nocturnal and unemployed, night-time bike rides are what's keeping me alive right now.

Hey Richie,
I totally understand why you did what you did. I remember my first CRANK MOB, it was fun with no drama. I remember trying to encourage friends to start bike riding and suggested to them they start with CRANK MOB. I thought this was the perfect ride as an introduction to the cool, fun night riding. Then slowly I saw things change, there were too many people causing problems it went from inviting strangers in the streets to grab a bike and come join us to cursing at them by stupid people that really should not be riding with us.
I use to look forward to working hard so that I can play hard and treat myself to a night out on the town and what better than with CRANK MOB.
MY ten year old even knows...WHEN I SAY CRANK, YOU SAY MOB!!! I"m very open with my kid, I like to show her different ways of enjoying life. I'd like to some day feel comfortable enough to be able to share CRANK MOB with her and know it is a safe enough ride that she can enjoy it as well.
By the way I know CRANK MOB is not exactly a ride for ten year olds but like I said I'm very open minded with my kid.
If Richie can master his idea and be able to keep CRANK MOB safe yet fun...I have no doubt in my mind she will enjoy it and view bike night riding for what it should be... a fun social gathering.
P.S. I mean WHEN not IF

I posted this on the FMLY thread, but it also has to do with Crank Mob...thanks in advance for reading....
There were a lot of similarities though. It was a night of total fun and love! We had a decent turnout, about 40 people at the start. As we were rolling, the cops showed up and to our surprise, they were cool! They wished us a safe ride over their loudspeaker, and furthermore, as we all hesitated to roll out, they said that if we roll out now, we would not be enforced! How cool is that! Several people yelled out "thanks!" and I heard someone yell out "how come you guys are bieng so nice?" The cop just smiled and rolled on by!
We did do more riding than anticipated, but I think that worked out for the best. We had made a concerted effort to communicate no taggin, no stealing, no getting so wasted that you ride down the wrong side of the street. Props to MOM Ridazz for contributing their numbers and their presence helps keep people in check.
After riding thru downtown LA at night (and you gotta admit, the view of dtla at night just rocks!) the only stop we took was at a Ralphs near where Pico and Venice almost run into each other. I was bummed at first, because when we showed up, the manager wanted to shut down the doors...She asked me if we were "that MOB group!" and I said no, we are FMLY and this is our first stop here. I stayed by the door to help keep an eye out, everyone was cool and there were no troubles. I checked in with the manager and the prime example of love was this...the lady that wanted to shut us out at first, tells me as we were leaving "have a safe ride, sweetie. Thaks for being cool with my store!" This lady rocks!
We all benefit from this spreading of love. Not only us as ridazz but also the biking community and lastly the city as a whole. Seems to me that both Crank Mob and FMLY had about the same amount of people, we were both spreading the fun around LA without pissing off anyone. We had no disrespect for either Native Americans, or caucasians. When both sides met, the hooting and hollering gave me goose bumps and we sparked up the energy in a big way. I loved looking around, I did not see Cowboys or Indians, I saw what looked like the United Colors of Benetton! To see a guy in a chicken outfit, jumping rope is just funny! The Red Rover game showed it best...We had an Indian in a head dress, holding hands with a girl in a cowboy hat holding hands with a guy in a trechcoat, next to a girl who looked like she was from Ethiopia in her elegeant facial features, next to another girl looking Westside fashionable in her boots with fringes....total diversity on down the line, all laughing, dancing, jumping into the night.
I hope next time our rides are not on the same night, I would like to go to Crank Mob too, but after the great ride we had on Saturday, I think it would be great to all ride together, we are all ridazz after the same goal. Can you imagine the possbilities?
C.R.A.N.K Mob: Hey there, what's your name?
FMLY: What's up big boy, what's your sign?
Epic fun would ensue....
