Description .IT'S OFFICIAL! BeX on the BLVD in Lancaster (706 West Lancaster Blvd) will host the Gold Sprints on Friday May 21st starting @ 8:00pm.
The Amgen Tour of California starts at 9:30am from City Hall in Palmdale and is expected to finish in Big Bear by 3:30pm. For those who are planning on watching the stage finish you will have plenty of time to make the drive back from Big Bear and be at BeX well before 8:00pm.
In celebration of this monumental event The Block Shop is hosting GoldSprints at BeX on The BLVD.
GoldSprints takes place on a stage with 4 bikes on rollers (trainers)(stands) set up side by side with an electronic timing device hooked to each one.
EVERYTHING IS PROVIDED FOR YOU! Bikes are adjustable to fit your height and they have flat pedals with toe straps so any shoe will work. Helmets not required - LOL!
There is a projected image of a clock on the wall to track the progress for each race which is typically 500 meters which takes 18-26 seconds average.
The overall male and female winners will receive a Specialized Globe Roll bike from The Block Shop.
There will be competitive races to determine the overall winners.
There will also be a ton of fun races for those not as competitive that still want to participate. You do not have to be a bicycle rider to enjoy GoldSprints!!!
There will be grudge races where you can pick your friends to race against, bracket races to pair up people of equal abilities and beer races to see who has fast drinking skills to match their pedaling.
There is an MC to call the races all night and if you haven't been to a GoldSprints just picture a horse race with people cheering and placing bets.
This is a huge opportunity for the cycling community in the AV! Don't Miss this!
It is going to be a busy day! The Amgen Tour of California starts at 9:30am from City Hall in Palmdale and is expected to finish in Big Bear by 3:30pm.
For those not going to Big Bear you can see all the top Pro Cyclists at the start and then watch the stage on Versus.
It is going to be an amazing stage! 135 miles 12,000 vertical feet of climbing with Lance Armstrong, Levi Leipheimer, Chris Horner, Andy Schleck, Fabian Cancellara, Jens Voigt, Dave Zabriskie, Mark Cavendish. Tom Boonen, George Hincapie, Neil Shirley, & over 100 more top pros!!!
