So, as luck would have it, I'm being sent home. I went to a civilian orthopedic specialist this week about my back and he delcared me "unfit for deployment". The National Guard is basically releasing me back to the Army in order to do a medical evaluation board (to determine whether I can be reassigned or kicked out altogether). This means I'll be home for 6-8 weeks waiting for this med board. I'm flying home this morning.

This is a good thing. The likelyhood of the Army keeping me in, with a known back issue, is not high. So, I've won the battle, but not yet the war.

 The system works in strange ways, but glad to see you're coming through just fine.

On a side note, there's this one dude who has my old security post at the tire-place I deliver to down the street.

He was planning on making a career out of the Army, but after finishing Basic and eight months into tech-school, he was found to have had a heart-murmur and they gave him a medical discharge.
