(working bikes and support supplies and cameras and maracas)
Leave: Green (clothing)
litering, tagging,
We will hit the Staples center and surrounding area
- maybe link up with the "Laker's ride - purple and gold"
I just talked to Kobe and he said he will try to sign anyone's bike who joins the ride at an undisclosed location shortly after the game's press conferences. there is a slight chance of getting backstage at an underground benny benassi show.
Street closures begin at 6:30 p.m. and progress throughout the game.
1st Quarter – Chick Hearn Court from Albany to Figueroa streets
Halftime -- All of Cherry Street; Figueroa Street from Olympic to Pico boulevards; 12th Street from Figueroa to Flower streets; 12th Street from Cherry to Albany streets
4th Quarter – Pico from Albany to Flower streets; Figueroa from Olympic to Washington boulevards; Flower from Olympic to Venice boulevards
i was gonna do the purple and gold ride but i have a few friends who live by the staple center and they said itll be nearly impossible to get anywhere near there....
I'm doing the Laker Ride tonight!! I'm heading straight to the Staple Center! Yo Osnap, I'm coming back with a brand new TV and hopefully a brand new car. Let the riots begin!!
the streets filled with people for blocks, every one yelling and running, people running on the freeway and throwing traffic cones off, people jumping on cars and getting driven down the street drinking a 40 on top, craziest night i've ever had in DTLA
My impression of a typical working class American:
(*turns around, with back to audience*)
(*clears throat*)
(*shoots cuffs*)
(*turns back around*)
"Corporations sent my friends and relatives to die in Iraq for their stock prices? Eh, whatever. What's on TV tonight?"
"Bankers made housing unaffordable with shady loan products and derivatives and ran the entire economy of the developed world into the ground, and the government is rewarding them with bailouts? Eh, whatever. Is there any beer in the fridge?"
"The company I work for makes me ask for permission to use the restroom like a kindergartner, and because of outsourcing I may not even have this job in a month? Eh, whatever. I wonder what the new Dodge Ram is gonna look like next year?"
"A bunch of millionaires won a basketball game? TO THE STREETS! TO THE STREETS, I SAY! A LAS CALLES! ALL OUT! THE VOICES OF THE PEOPLE WILL ISSUE FORTH WITH A MIGHTY ROAR, AND OUR ENEMIES WILL TREMBLE TO HEAR OUR WRATH! COME, COME--IF THERE IS A TRUE MAN AMONG YOU, LET HIM COME! TO THE STREETS!"
So you're saying that the typical working class American is also bilingual and speaks both English and spanish? Or are you suggesting that the typical working class American is Hispanic and therefore likes to riot?

Ps. That was quick! Way to jump in and defend your buddies point of view. We need more people like you in DC.... Instead of waiting 2/3 weeks to address a pressing issue!

alright people calm down, "awesome" means i was in awe. i'm not proud of anything these crazy people did, it was just one of the most intense experiences i've ever had to be riding around in a group of bikes in the middle of it. it seems like too many of you guys are so quick to attack your fellow ridazz.....
Sorry but "FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!!" sounds like wow that was cool.... Your tone gave it away and now you are trying to back track with the clinical definition of "awesome"
I pay a lot of money in property taxes that goes to fund your education, and I suspect I am not getting my moneys worth.

People are allowed to back track and reassess what they think or believe. To me that is the whole point of group discussions - For changing thought, not for unrelenting attacks.
"A bicyclist was injured when struck by a Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department vehicle near 11th and Flower streets, according to the LAPD." via Latimes.com
Do you think this is a tell tale sign that LACM with an LAPD presence is doomed to fail? Fail in the sense of a portion of the mass will just end up taunting the police, provoke arrests, and cause us to have a situation like NYCM has in which we will require a parade license for every ride?
I hope I'm wrong, because I hate it when PC is right.
"I hope I'm wrong, because I hate it when PC is right."
LOL!
I'm hoping the end result isn't the same! Maye I should put this on the LACM thread, but I think the situation and circumstances are different. Personally I think that the LAPD shoulda just used rubber bullets for all the dumbfucks who set shit on fire or jumped on cars... Fuck them! Get rid of the trash!

I'll agree and toast a big one on that observation Mr Paul Contreras.
Fuckers be whining about Mr Big Shit having it all, then celebrate a bunch of overpaid ball dribblers who just beat another bunch of overpaid ball-dribblers.
It didn't matter who won or lost in the games, each member of each team is still getting their million dollar take-home pay while a bunch of dumbshits, regardless of race or nationality, run amok all over the streets like jackasses.
Now if they all(revelers) just somehow miraculously ended up with a a gold-bar in their hot little hands, then I could understand getting over-celebratory.
Oh, and New Balance kicks the shit out of Nike any day of the week!!!
Sports players are payed millions because they help the govt create a distraction. These fuckers are good at dribbling a ball but they're even better at keeping the public from protesting real issues. THAT is why they're millions! For keeping the public interested in less important issues.
Is it a surprise that the lakers went all the way to game 7 even though there is the worlds largest oil spill in history? The govt doesn't care about a lil damage in property taxes as long as we stay ignorant about the issues that Big Brother doesn't want us to know about. And after yesterday I would say that we're doing a great job at remaining ignorant and letting our govt. fuck is in the ass. Way to go fellow Laker fans!

Regardless, professional sports is the last thing to get overly worked up about.
There's plenty of other sports where the fans don't get overly raucous over a series of wins, I often wonder what makes them keep their restraint over the likes of Baseball, football, and basketball?
Eh, back to watching some Married W/Children reruns and reading some David Baldacci.
I was speaking about sports in general being a distraction for more important issues. Specifically (but not limited to) the US. Then I used the lakers as an example.

way to ignore the other people who talked about having a good time last night, and single me out because i just so happen to be a minor and they aren't
again, yes, it was awesome (would awe-inspiring be a better word for you?) and incredibly exciting to experience what happened. did i have "fun" riding my bike around and seeing all this uncontrollable mayhem go on? yes. in the same way i enjoyed riding critical mass with hundreds of other bikers for the first time. was i proud or do i think it's beneficial or productive in any way? no. you'd have to be an imbecile or quite inebriated to actually participate in or support the destruction and public mayhem. of course it's fucking bullshit that people would destroy others' property for no good reason. did i have anything to do with it? no. i rode my bike around and witnessed it. the "fun" is in the fact that it's so rare and ridiculous for something like this to happen that i cant help but laugh and be awestruck in the war-zone like moment, and the fact that i'm actually in the center of it. i saw people running on the freaking freeway and one person threw a traffic cone off. it was incredibly hilarious to witness that, but does it mean i did anything wrong?
there's not much that i can do to stop it, so i don't know where you get off insulting my intelligence via a claim that your taxes go to my education, especially considering the basis of your argument was the way my post "sounds like" and my "tone". (besides the fact that LAUSD is fucking shit and they take all of your tax dollars and spend it unnecessary shit at headquarters while all my fellow students and teachers suffer.) and especially "I suspect I am not getting my moneys worth." as if it's the schools' job to teach me to subscribe to the ideals that you feel are correct? i am sovereign over my own mind and have the freedom to feel how I want about issues with multiple viewpoints.
you could have just expressed your concern that i support things like this in a mature and calm manner, and i would have been glad to discuss it. but of course, you had to insult me and act all high-and-mighty. why cant we be civil?
WOW that was long.... again, i have nothing against you foldie, i'm sure you're an awesome guy, but please stop with the unnecessary insults. it kinda makes you look like a jerk........ i still look forward to meeting you and hopefully hearing how you feel about situations like this because clearly you have been around longer than I and must have some valid points to explain or teach to me.
in reply to you and osnap's "REALLY? You cant make people have a stance on issues ... "
hell no i cant change anyone's mind or force them to believe anything. i aint no ones mama! all I can do is educate and inform myself and HOPE that others do the same and aren't lemmings.
Until i'm able to harness the technology in which i can wipe everyone off of this planet and breed with myself to form my own race and rule the world, then i really have no solution and i can bitch and whine all i want :) isn't that what MR is for?

Demographics being what they are today, a typical working-class American could be an English speaker or a Spanish speaker. Because I'm an impression artist and not a ventriloquist, though, I can only imitate one dude at a time, so I made him a half-breed...like me. Only he can actually speak Spanish. Thank you for your patronage!

So why don't they use that energy EVERY DAY against BP, Goldman Sachs, BofA and every other scumbag-filled corporation rather than acting like morons and jumping up and down on some guys taxi?
I want to know is there anyone else who was impressed with Ron Artest's post-game interview. You gotta love the way he thanked the hood and his psychiatrist almost in the same breath.
(notice the crowd was just celebrating, until the cops did bullshit that caused/added to rioting. When simple expression is suppressed, the outcome can turn into the very thing that they feared the most. Yes, there are always a few bad seeds in a crowd that large, but for the most part of what I witnessed, it was a good crowd until the LAPD started to squeeze.)

You guys are acting like Angelenos (whatever human demographic they may fall under) are the only ones who pull shit like this. I've seen many a time when an NHL team wins the stanley cup their fans go out and do something similar. NHL, a caucasian dominated sport with a huuuuge, predominantly caucasian fan base. It's not a white or brown or black thing (apology to all other colors, but I'm not painting a masterpiece here). It's pent up aggressions, for the points PC mentioned in his "one man show," that when given the right situation or circumstance, come flooding out. It's so much easier to pull this type of shit in a huge crowd than when you're listening/watching the news from your shitty 80's plastic wrapped couch.
