LOL!
This thread is funny. It conjures an image of everyone gathering, and as soon as the ride starts everyone shoots off into totally different directions! :)

it's appalling the amount of littler this ride produces. not even considering the 100+ glow sticks i saw on the ground from falling off bikes and people while riding, and the glow sticks i saw thrown and dropped into the ballona creek at mustache bridge(which goes straight to the ocean.when i got back to crank mob park at the end it was a mess there was glow stick trash everywhere and dead sticks and connectors and beers all over the ground. and this was only one stop. the glow sticks are a cool idea once but this ride causes way too much litter to happen on any kind of a regular basis........

Or the ride could still happen, but the ride leaders could tell people to
pick up their fucking trash and not throw their single-use consumer doodads into the ocean, no matter how pretty they think it looks. I mean, it's a novel idea, I'm sure, but you never know...

my concern comes mostly from the fact the glowsticks come in such plentiful amounts yet manage to fall off the bikes so easily and get lost everywhere. it's easier to tell people to pick up beer and cans and stuff because theree's usually not a gross amount, but the glowsticks come in the hundreds, are small and not the easiest to see (if dead) and fall off people and their bikes constantly while riding, littering whether the person intended to or not.

Maybe instead of dressing our bikes with glowy things we could just ride out to glowy locations.. Like Hollywood.. YEA

There are double-A powered glowsticks that are relatively cheap.
Perhaps a package deal could be found on these and sold at a small price as needed.
Still, the amount of throwaway excess is disturbing and unlike bottles and cans, "dead-sticks" can't be recycled.
