WTF? It's a FUNDRAISER for LACBC! It's not a douche-nozzle free for all.
Boo on you too.

I may do this or some of it. Lumis day is happening in HP and I want to check it out.

What Borfo said: it's fundraiser for LACBC - in fact it's their major fundraiser of the year and a a lot of time and effort on the part of many volunteers go into it.
Most of the goodies and prizes are donated as incentives to get folks to register for the ride.
If you want to ride the route you're free to do so at any time (it's all on public property), but no need to bag on the ride or spread falsehoods. Just sayin' . . .

just to be fair, i did this two years in a row paid, this time around i just have no money to spare and really don't care for the support they have set up. i'd rather make a $5 donation if they really complained about me 'crashing' their ride

Do they actually care if you crash the ride? I wanna do the century tomorrow we should get a crash ride together and meet up spot. I'm DOWN!

Where does the ride start and what time, shit, I'll even start the crash race if no one else steps up. Lets do this!

My friend and I are gonna ride the century at 5AM, an hour before the registration starts. You probably know him since he's been all over the place lately. Anyone is more than welcome to roll with us if you can wake up at that time. We're meeting at Autry National Center at 5AM and we'll leave at the same time. Once we finish we'll take the train to L.A. to make it back with time to spare to watch the NBA Finals. Well at least I'm watching it... So if you wanna roll meet us up, you know what time and where...
This is for all the broke riders that want to do the L.A. River Ride but don't have $65 to spare, at least this year. Times are tough...

Figured I would follow the example lead by your illegal alien brethren.
It's my human right to ride on the bike path, no need to follow the rules.

I didn't have the money to do the ride, so I volunteered to install route signs yesterday and check the Seal Beach/Long Beach part of the route this morning.
They gave me a ride t-shirt, a bunch of swag and a wrist band to ride any of the routes.
Plus I made a bunch of new friends. Other ridazz did this too.
If you don't have the cash next year, they are always looking for help and they really appreciate it.
Win-win!
