Bicycle Polo Chinatown court

I stumbled across the student gallery at the art center college of design. I found a student that came up with the great design to convert the gold line metro over passage in to a self sustained polo court. check it out the links below.

Want to wright to him here is his email colin.oshtucker(at)gmail.com . You got to remember that he is only a student with an idea. we can help him by asking the owner of that property witch i think is metro or Los angels city. dose any one know how to propose something like this, Where would we start??????

fucking art students think they can do anything they can imagine.... haha... reality! sorry. i'm allowed to talk shit, because i was one, and went to the same school. pretty cool that someone would take the time to dream something like that up though, better than something else. :)

Hahaha. All too true.
Yeah, I was looking more closely at what he was proposing in regards to the court's construction w/ tires.
We would need to make something like that of Arizona, w/ raised ends near the goals, so when people shoot bullets they don't go over.
It sounds cool, like a hub for cyclists and polo players. Almost like a skate park.
Idk, i'm just really pro polo anything.
I'm really looking to make this an official sport.

Considering the enthusiasm around it, it can happen! Really could become a business similar to what velodromes offer now.... maybe. Or......... it can just be what it is.

Great idea, unfortunately with it being metro property, liability issues would be a non starter. If we lived in a world where all the art students projects come to life it would be nice. But like Braydon said there is a reality and most projects stay in the studio.

c'mon campos. just cause the police called you out on the b.y.o.b. shit and you got kicked out of your court doesn't mean you have to get all uptight on my ass. Besides by proper, he should have done some research for key ideas and feed-back. I.e. by calling one of us
(my number is posted) or showing up to a few games.
Project-Research-Results. You guys are just getting way too excited over an art project.
Believe me, I would be all over that shit too, but eh...i dunno.

OK Steve! what can we do to make this happen since you seem to be full of ideas lets hear them. this could be a start. Any one please feel free to input you thoughts and ideas. If you and anyone else want to contact the city or the metro, or, alternatively, find a different spot whose owner would be down, I think both the City of LA and cycle-community would do well by having a court for bike polo and cyclist to hang out in general. Maybe if it does become feasible, we could even start a petition and get signatures at a midnightridazz ride in order to make it happen.

The art project, is evoking ideas, possibilities, and ultimately materializing.
Cause it's not only his art project, it's our sport.

For those of you interested in actually lobbying for a dedicated polo court or at least a another "all-purpose" court in L.A. (cuz we love the 818 but who says there shouldn't be MOAR POLO IN MOAR PLACES) - I have discussed this a bit with Sarah and Brian, and we really ought to start coordinating efforts and talking to the officials who sign off on stuff like this and MAKE IT HAPPEN. So, let's move forward with that...oh god if you guys had any idea the extent of my polo fantasies and intentions....courts, concerts, sponsors, fundraisers, all-around legitness...

the encino velodrome would actually be a sick spot for a polo court. they would just need to put cement over some leftover parts in the infield. i'm sure its not an absolutely absurd idea, but there would have to be a lot of coordination, some fundraising for renovation, and a lot of good planning

Err...All the way to Encino on a Polo Ratio?
How about somewhere in Hollywood, Westside, South Central, DTLA.
But I was actually thinking of ways to fundraise for a polo court.
I've even gone as far as to see how the 818 hockey court has been made and with some elbow grease n materials I really think we can make one.
Guerrilla style.
Perhaps, even get some financial help from somewhere. idk.
BUT YES!
I want my polo fantasies realized!
& I love how you were guiding that Movie chick to make a movie on Polo.
OMG, I would love that.
I would love to even make my own.
But I haz no cameraz..... :[
Nor a decent computer in which to edit the footage in.....
In due time, I'll make the most uber polo film ever.
most uber. Is that right? Idk.
