Bicycle Races?

Are there any bicycle races that happen in the LA area? Short races? Centuries? SF to LA races? Fund-raiser-type races? It could even be in SD or OC.. why not!
I've never been on one... and it would be fun to get into now that it's been a solid 3 years of regular bicycling for me and I would love to increase my abilities through some healthy competition.

Are you serious. There are always races. Look to the right------>
Also go to LAfixed.com, they always have races posted up.

most fund raiser races are non-competitive, though there are some official sanctioned races that donate their proceeds to a local charity or such. if you like juggling with traffic and navigating urban streets, check out
alleycats. for 2 hours of pain, check out
road races. if you want to race on a closed course with others, there are tons of local
criteriums. and if you're all about speed agility and power, theres the
velodrome as well.

Thanks guys! The reason I posted this is because, while I see hundreds of rides in the calendar, they are mostly "chill rides" and I dont know how serious the high-paced ones are. Thanks again! :D
