I'm going on a ride today with a friend who just got a bike, what's the best route to Venice from Hollywood?
Thanks!

Go to priceline.com - Find the best ticket.. Taxi cab to LAX. It's about an 8 hour flight direct to Rome, then you can take a train to Venice. Another 3-4 hours.. Have fun

my cousin and i are also headed to venice from hollywood... take any street south to venice... right on venice.... venice has a bicycle lane so if your friend is a beginner, they will be okay.... the terrain is pretty flat all the way...

Best street is Highland. It's wider and quieter. Take it from Hollywood all the way until it hits La Brea. Take a left on La Brea and ride until you get to Venice Blvd. Turn right and take the bike lanes on Venice Blvd all the way to the beach.
Don't pay attention to the dick-breath trolls, they don't have friends to ride with like you do.

so in other words, take the best street for maybe 3 blocks tops. and then turn right.
and wear noseplugs when getting dick breathed directions.

That route seems very pedestrian for your standards....Where are the ditches, old viaducts and cycocross dismounts?

Take any street south to melrose then head west on melrose take a left on robertson and take it all the way down to venice then a right on venice and its a straight shot to the beach ... or if you feel like a bit more of a challenge take either santa monica or sunset all the way!

Here's my route.
Take Sycamore south to 8th.
Right on 8th.
Left on Cochran
Continue on Cochran south to Venice
Right on Venice and ride it until you at the pacific ocean.
All of the streets are very chill and you won't fight traffic, plus Cochran has a small hill that's fun to ride down. Enjoy the day and ride safe!
