I'm in London for work,
Walking back to my hotel with my cousin at about 8:30 PM, when I see at the major intersection ahead (Oxford Street and BLoomsbury street) .and most familiar sound and sight: Music bike with a bunch of riders stopped at a light completely blocking the intersection.
I start shouting at my cousin, "SEE THATS WHAT ITS LIKE." I walk up to the first hipster I can find, and ask, "what group is this?" And she replies with a hoity toity British accent "Cree-tee-kul Maaaasss, you wanna join? get uh bike and come wif" I said I wish, see you next time, have fun be safe!
So I grabbed two pics for you guys!

The second cell phone pic. The music bike is towards the front of the group at the top.
By the way, the biking culture here is awesome. Everywhere I look, and I mean everywhere, I see cyclists enjoying the streets.

I'm thoroughly jealous! Thanks for the pics. Just curious... Any tall bikes?

No Tall Bikes, none that I could see, and the group was long. But I think thats because here there is no space.
I see sooooo many foldies here, its amazing.
More foldies than fixies and single speeds.

London's metropolitan police have been showing up on bikes and riding critical mass for many years, now. Their relationship to the ride is completely non-confrontational. The cops cork absolutely every intersection, are friendly, and clearly enjoy the assignment. Due to the narrowness of London's roads, there is no attempt made to share the road with motor vehicle traffic and the cops have no issue with this at all. Hopefully, tonight's ride will be the first step toward a similar relationship with LAPD.
There is also an EMT bike on the London ride. It is a bicycle custom built by a paramedic which has pretty much everything a first responder might need, including defibrillator and such. The guy riding the bike is a paramedic and built it himself and just does it for fun, but the ambulance service he works for provides him with all of the medical supplies.
Also, the music bike on the 2 London critical mass rides I have been on is fucking LOUD. It's got a huge subwoofer on it and looks like it must be really heavy, but you can hear it from way back in the pack.

That is a 100% awesome account. Thanks for that.
(*LAPD and Sgt. David Krumer, this is very encouraging, no?)
