my best memory of cycling was when i was on a trip to holland as a teenager. we rented bikes and were able to easily get anywhere we wanted in almost no time.
the only way to kind of recreate that is hopping on one of the river trails and going to long beach or something. Its never the same.
If we could at least have a nice bike path that runs next to freeways, 10/60/405/105/110/210/5/91/etc biking as a way to commute reasonable distances would actually be possible.
full cyclepath infrastructure would be awesome.
its no fun biking on roads if you've biked on a decent dedicated cyclepath. its great being able to maintain a high pace without having to stop or worry about endangering yourself/others.

you know, there are a lot of roads in hollywood that are built on top of sandy soil, causing the road to sink. i wonder if it still makes sense to target those roads for off-road facilities because it will save money on road maintenance.
