INAUGURAL RIDE IS JUNE 24th
Sunday from 10:30am to early afternoon
Meet at LA Live 11th and Figueroa –N W Corner
Meet at 10 –leave at 10:30
Bring your own shit
Route headed out of downtown is out 11th Street to Country Club then West to Crenshaw South to Pico then West to Robertson up to Melrose
(AT this point, some may want to stay on Pico and head to the beach - we break at Starbucks here and decide)
Head Back - Melrose East to Highland South to 4th then East to DTLA
Riders are encouraged to get left behind if they see something interesting and want to explore. If you finish with group, fine, if not,
hang in the hood and lets see how long you last. (DO NOT WEAR A HOODIE)
emergency number will be posted day of the ride on spoke cards
ends with breakfast/lunch at the Pantry
Bring ur own shit - tubes, patches, pump, whatever
Sunscreen will NOT be distributed

A "no white man" ride heading down "Country Club" then stopping at STARBUCKS to decide whether to head down Pico to go to the beach in Santa Monica? Saying "if not,
hang in the hood and lets see how long you last", when the ride takes place in the morning/early afternoon and doesn't go south of Pico?
This is adorable.
People can debate about where the "hood" begins, but I'm pretty sure the Westside north of Pico is generally not considered the "hood" by just about anyone.
The only thing that would make this ride more stereotypically white/Westsiderish is if the ride stopped at Rancho Park to hit the driving range or play 9 holes on the way to the beach. (Which, by the way, would be AWESOME!)
I don't know if you're messing with us Bernie, but this actually sounds like it would be a fun ride if it were a little more inclusive.

maybe since the ride is in the middle of the day, near the longest day of the year, and he says no sunblock will be distributed, he's just trying to warn fair-skinned, untanned people??

I was curious how someone would call that route "in the hood" as well. But according to Bernie's blog he lives in west LA and in one entry he refers to the Ronald Reagan building as being in the "seediest" part of downtown. So maybe he just hasn't been out of the west side in so long that he thinks these parts of LA are "bad"? Or maybe it's just a big joke since he looks pretty "white" in his pic.

Been away from these rides for years and just logged on to the site today to see this shit. I'm sick of guilty white people who are so extremely scared to speak out and be called a "racist". How about we have a No Mexicans and Blacks ride. That's no different from what you're doing here. I can't believe the people running this site don't take your ride post down. Now I remember why I stopped riding with MR. Bunch of stupid hipsters.

actually i was having a really bad day when i wrote that rant. I don't care what anyone does or call their ride. I still think its stupid though, but who cares what I think, I live too far away now to go on MR rides. I met a lot of good people at MR rides and some ok hipsters i guess. I like the reptilian ride idea, someones been listening to david icke. Have a good ride

yeah, about 5 people had a really good time -- with little or no traffic
LA Live was a trip due to X Games being set up === they let us test out the BMX course so we had to wear helmets.
and a GREAT
food stop at this food truck that converted its truck to a restaurant stall over at Pico and Robertson called; KOMODO --------SEE: www.komodofood.com. Cheap, clean and vegi/ new age/ California taco stuff that was great to eat when hungry.
Hope it stays at 5-10 simpatico folks who cruz thru Pico Union on Sundays. We'll do it like every two weeks.
