u dont pay a light ticket...?
reply
It's a fix-it ticket. Just get a light, take it down to a CHP station show them you fixed it and get them to sign it off.

hmm. perhaps we need more info, is it a ticket for running a red light (which is what i assumed) or is it a ticket for not having lights at night? either way, i think that the answer is yes if you don't take care of it.

EITHER WAY, IF YOU DON'T TAKE CARE OF IT, BY SHOWING UP AT COURT, AND FOLLOWING THROUGH WITH WHAT IS/WAS SUGGESTED BY THE COURT, THEN YES, A FAILURE TO APPEAR' WARRANT WILL BE ISSUED. THIS IS IN ADDITION TO THE ORIGINAL CHARGE(S).
USUALLY ANY TIME IN JAIL WOULD CONSTITUTE AS TIME SERVED, IF YOU ARE ARRESTED FOR THAT FTA. ASSUMING THAT MULTIPLE VIOLATIONS ARE NOT ACCUMULATED OR PENDING.
GOOD LUCK.

show up to court so you dont get a failure to appear and then dont pay the ticket. its not an arrest able offense and if it was on a bike they don't have the right to take away your license. basically all that will happen is it will lower your credit score which resets in 7 years anyways. sometimes they will suspend your license anyways but you just have to go into the court and talk to the clerk, they should reinstate it once they realize the infraction was on a bicycle.

They sometimes do the same for people who skip out on jury-duty, so far the only crime I've been charged with.

If the county's small enough and the deputies have nothing better to do.
But, it has tapered off in some areas of San Bernardino County over the last several months.
Some courthouses closed, while others ones are receiving the backload from the closed ones.

So L.A. is a safe zone ?
Not necessarily, but with the massive caseloads they probably have to deal with, I'm quite sure their able to fill the spots as needed.
Up here though, most of our brass are typically rejects from other counties.

I got picked up on FAILURE TO APPEAR WARRANT once and it sucks. You are considered a flight risk just for not showing up to your court date,so most likely you won't get a release till after you go to court. It's a really good idea to just take some time off work and turn yourself in,they are more like to let you out early if you turn yourself in.

i know this is a super old thread, but i didn't want to make a new one, and it's a questions to this comment:
if you got the not having lights ticket, do you just have to go to the CHP station and show them your lights, or the bike with the lights?

Bike with lights just to be safe, they'll probably just glance at it and sign it off with no issue.

Back in the old days when I was a cager, I got a fix it ticket for a tail light that was out. I went to a CHP station to show them it was fixed, and they didn't even look at the car! They just took my $10 and signed off.
