No End to Critical Mass

Critical Mass is a cultural virus (and we are all infected).
It exists in hundreds of countries and thousands of cities, on every continent on the planet except Antarctica.
It is such a simple formula it can never be stopped.
CM time and a place to ride bikes.
With no leadership and no central organization there is no way for anybody to stop it.
And every month new people get infected.
It may get snuffed out here or there.
It may collapse under its own weight.
It may get broken up.
It may get co-opted.
But it will keep happening in one form or another, again and again.
.
The people interested in riding CM will come and go.
As will the tactic used to try and control it.
But it will never die.
The only way to vaccinate global culture against the virus of Critical Mass will be to create transportation parity for bikes, making CM redundant and unnecessary.
I don't expect that will happen any time soon.
Like the larger culture it exists in, CM will always have problems.
But CM is not going any where and neither is the flu virus.
Deal with it.

We can make it happen in Antarctica as well.
The big problem is chartering a cargo ship is kind of dicey, and C-17 Globemaster III's with ice-skids are still in the experiment stage.
