If you plan to the ride
The World's Biggest Bike Song lets coordinate!
Everybody is of course welcome to do whatever they want, but if we think of different ways of coordinated our sound and our efforts it could make for a really powerful effect!

Hey, sound system people!
So my friend and I are working on a sound piece for the last stop on the bike song ride, and I'm trying to get a sense of:
A) how many people will have have sound systems that we could plug into.
and B) what kind of plugs those sound systems need for input.
I guess it's probably safe to assume that most systems already have a standard 1/8" headphone jack for plugging into an ipod or whatever, so I may just build some cables that'll have a 1/8" female connector at the end. Still, it'd be good to know if there are other options, since I'd prefer to use existing cables rather than buying adapters or soldering connectors onto speaker wire.
Part A is more important. I'm mostly just trying to get a headcount of people who are willing to contribute their soundsystem for a short performance. Should we be arranging this thing for 4 channels? 6 channels? 8?
OK; 8 channels may be a little ambitious, but it'd be nice to know that we can at least count on having quadraphonic sound.
Who's got those speakers?

Hey Nathan, just look for the black sound system trailer with ++ all over it and talk to me. Shouldn't be a problem. B)

how do u plan on connecting multiple sound systems together and make quadrophonic sound? you'll need your output cords to be extremely long :/

Basically, I'll be routing live instruments through a laptop, looping them, and sending them out of a fancy soundcard that has 8 separate channels.
I'm not looking to actually do a traditional quadraphonic setup with two speakers in the front and two in the back for spatialization. That would be kind of insane. I'm mostly hoping to separate out different sounds by speaker - more like an
acousmonium than a surround sound setup.
Still, given the unusual location we're going to be tied to, it'll probably take a hundred feet of cable to make it work.
Your sound system looks amazing, by the way. I'll be psyched to hear it in action!

And to think I've got all this X-caliber weaponry locked and loaded for an Op that I'm not going to be able to make.
