It's been about a year since I've been riding in LA and I am commuting from Orange County to Hollywood. I usually take the train out to Union Station and then would take Cesar Chavez/Sunset to Santa Monica and then ride to Hollywood. This route was pretty good when I used to take it but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for other routes that would take me to about Santa Monica and Fairfax. Thanks.

not a bike route, but you can jump on the red line from union station and take it to hollywood and vine, hollywood and highland.

Try this route:

a bit longer but easy on the hills.
Remember that fountain is your friend!

I love taking fountain to sunset to get downtown. It's completely out of my way but it's really calming and it feels like a journey. If you want you could try 6th to 4th street and then up La Brea/Orange/Sycamore to Willoughby into Weho. 4th being your official bicycle freeway to the city from dtla to the west.
