I love techno.
I love bikes too.
Some are lame, some are cool but If you love bikes then you'll enjoy this thread.
I'll be posting some new bike techo that I've come across, feel free to post stuff that you've found too.
Kraftwerk had long been obsessed with the relationship between people and machines as seen in preceding works such as Robots, Man Machine, Trans Europe Express, Autobahn, Numbers ... etc
Its only natural that cycling would capture their interest as a sport where people are so closely married to a machine. I imagine the cadence and repetition of cycling let them contemplate the connections between their mechanical past time and their mechanical music.
Later Kraftewerk went on to revisit Tour De France song, with a more modern trancy/ housey feel ... (I'm not a fan) and they revisited their classic (which had only appeared as a single) by building a whole album around it with related topics such as vitamins (because proper nutrients are so important to high performing cyclists)
back to thr original Tour de France...
Kraftwerk has always been sampled a lot, but Tour de France seemed to take it to a new level almost single handedly inspiring the musical aesthetic of Electro Funk especially here in L.A. (most of which have nothing to do with cycling and seem mostly to love the heavy breathing sounds and percussive chain sounds.
here's a mixtape i did with a buddy of mine last summer. all vinyl. lots of rare records. electro. hi-nrg, italo and ebm. something to keep those pedals in motion.
