so a story about an immigrant who was forced to join the border patrol due to unemployment and the need to survive in a capitalist society is supposed to be a feel good story?
fuck pedro for being blinded by nationalism.fuck him for being energized and believing in "value" to his work as a border patrol agent. all he's doing is perpetuating the same racism that is used to divide us. fuck him for feeling productive to society by becoming a tool of intimidation, a tool of a system that relies on his blind nationalism to enforce unjust laws and scare the proletariat into submission.

Too bad most people just don't care about more than their own bubble.
I doubt any of the Taliban could listen to and understand some MTV award nominees about what they have in common. I just don't think it's ever gonna happen.
I have hope we can overcome a lot of certain indifferences through communication. But, religious fundamentalism and extreme consumerism will forever create giant chasms between real people.
Yes, I listened to the whole thing.
I doubt Craig818 will...

Anger on buddy!
Your are welcome to your opinions.
I have read many of your negative generalizations about people who come here illegally and their motivations for doing so.
Although I do not know you, I have developed a sense of some of your political views through your voluminous writing.
While many people have called you a racist and a bunch of other stupid shit I don't think I am among them.
On the other hand you constantly engage in the silliest of name calling.
You call me a communist, you call me a racist, you say I have a "La Raza agenda"
What the fuck does that mean?
I like this story for a few reasons.
1 because I know a lot of people who have come here and faced similar struggles as the parents in the story, and have a similar love and affection for this country.
I also like this story because its complicated.
As I wrote earlier. People with narrow agendas like simple black&white stories that prove their point. I suppose I like this story because it is a reenforcement of my world view that life is complicated full of a lot of shades of grey.
I don't know the motivations for all your angry, hateful, ignorant, outbursts and name-calling. I'm not going to ascribe them your being racist or having whatever agenda.
But I do think it is perfectly fair to frame your angry diatribes as those of a "hater".
Rant on.

hey, wanna help me get my citizenship?
i've been in the US for the past 24 years.
i am a college graduate.
i've have been workin since age 15.
i still work today and a good chunk of my pay goes towards taxes.
i have a clean background.
i have assets.
i do volunteer work for my community on occasion and donate monthly to various organizations.
i dont understand how i am denied citizenship when some scofflaw fucktard who gang bangs in westlake and east los has his just because his parents happened to fuck across the border.
craig, help me. i don't need money, i can pay for all this shit myself. i just need some sorta guidance. i have paid over $1300 to attain my citizenship, but they keep "losing my paperwork" and can't do anything to help me because they don't know who was working on my "case".

Fine!
Only this one time I will be serious ok?
Our time is short and by the time we've realized how important it is, we have already wasted half of it.
(youth is wasted on the young,I forgot who said that.)
I do not care about heaven nor hell as I do not believe in either one.
In fact if they do exist then they exist here.
We make our own heaven and our own hell.
Nor do I care about reincarnation,It's flawed.
The brain cells you have right now will not be the same ones you will be inhabiting in another body hence there will be no memory.
So I've come to this conclusion.
About Life.
It is short, it is fleeting, each moment we have is precious.
So why not spend these moments in Happiness?
Why burden yourself and wallow in the negative emotions?
Be happy and try not to hurt anyone.
Do not allow yourself to be dragged down by the haters.
Remember: Misery loves company.
Oh and don't worry too much about the legacy you will leave behind.
You wouldn't care anymore anyway when you've gone.
Now back to blissful ignorance...

I like your idea and think it is on the right track. It is important not to get swallowed up by the negativity trap that society tends to build up around people who know / think too much and don't have a naturally positive personality.
It's just very hard, even fully intending to stay happy in spite of it all, to keep a positive outlook when so much is wrong with the world and so many people are actively and willfully doing things that they know will hurt you (physically or otherwise) to further their own agendas.
For example, I ride my bike around and enjoy the ride and mind my own business in bike lanes and people in cars still yell angry things at me, mirror-buzz me, etc. It's very hard to smile like an idiot and just keep riding when that happens - when that happens every god damned day, all day long.
I guess that's no excuse not to try.

Or at least like em a lil bit..right?
What we have in common brings us together
Hence whatever differences we have will keep us apart.
and boy do we get reminded of these differences..Sexuality,political views,race,education,income...the list goes on and on.
But why so much emphasis on our differences?
And by whom?
Ok enough of that ,let's have some eff you enn between our legs!

In the end most of us crave the same basic things.
And in the end, some of us are more willing than others to do fairly fucked up things to other people in order to get those "same basic things." Steal bikes, join a gang, kill people in Fallujah, join the border patrol, whatever it takes. Consider the cockles of my heart duly warmed.

Actually, joining a gang is what happens when gangs provide the basic needs that aren't being met by family/ society ... ie love, food, shelter, education, protection, acceptance, 9mm glocks etc.

Actually, joining a gang is what SOMETIMES happens when gangs provide the basic needs that aren't being met by family/society. And sometimes not. What I saw growing up was that often the "sometimes and the "sometimes not" were people who grew up under the same roof, under the exact same circumstances with regard to the meeting of needs by family and society.

So what is that saying ?
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting
different results.
So as life gives you different experience's encountering the different stereo types
you learn why these stereo types came to be.
Is it then the definition of a Hater as one who does not wish to encounter these
stereo types or support there actions as they have already negatively experienced them beforehand ?

You are getting there!
Making judgements and generalizations about outside forces (people, animals, tribes, etc.) is protective mechanism that we have evolved as a species.
However, throughout he evolution of civilization we have worked to understand that stereo types tend to fail as often as they succeed. As seen is Parables like "The Good Samaritan".
After one learns that there is anecdotal evidence to support many stereotypes, wether they be negative or positive, we have the opportunity to evolve beyond that understanding to examine through personal experience and anecdote that in many if not most cases, most people defy the stereotypes that surround them.
as the Persuasive Casemaker mentioned, many people who grow up in the same household under very similar conditions turn out quite different.
We can see the influence of history, culture, and power on how individuals evolve.
There is also genetics, family, and individual experience.
Yet on the surface ... just by looking, its pretty hard to tell the difference.
2 people who look the same, dress the same, and talk the same, may have very different approaches on how to live life.
When you say "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."
I'm not really sure how that applies to interacting with individuals.
Or considering the fact that there are individuals that do not fit your time saving stereotypes.
