I have a 6x9 Sony Explod speaker. I want to throw this on the back of the bike and power it up. Know any cheap but loud amps as well as battery packs? What are people using? Laptop battieries? Are they hard to wire up? Thanks

Amps that run between 120W and 300W could be found for between $25 and $60 depending on where you look.
35AmpH wheelchair batteries could be found for about the same price at wheelchair stores used where switch-outs are done.
All in all, you're probably going to be spending between a minimum of $60 and $150 to get the thing properly working.
I guess what we should do is have a contest where whomever creates the crispiest sound-system with the least amount of resources gets crowned "MacGuyver of the Century" or something to that effect.

Lots of people are running Class D amplifiers that put out about 15 watts. They're too small to work for a 6x9.
I have mine running through 2 4x6's with a little lithium ion battery pack. Weak bass, but it's plenty loud for a smaller ride.

I currently have both a 120W and 300W amp that run small, house speakers and 6x9's respectively.
However, I attached three different speakers to the 300W and ended up blowing all three of them at CRANKMAS.
So, I'm sticking to the 6x9's with tweeters on the side.
No blow-out difficulties with those yet, not to mention spreading the sound to smaller complementary speakers goes a long way in preserving the integrity of the main speaker.
Just keep experimenting like I do and you'll eventually find something that suits your fancy.
