FYI, anyone going to have service done at Robertson Honda on Lankersheim in NoHo should be aware that they are stealing parts off the cars and not replacing old oil filters.
They did not put on the 20.00 Mobile high preformance oil filter I purchased on the last two oil changes, they stole my oil filter and put on a cheap 7.00 Honda oil filter and the last time they did not even bother to replace the cheap Honda filter, they just left it on and stole my Mobile Filter.
I found out quite by accident; my car was running really sluggish after my last oil change last week so I brought it in today and had them put it up on the hydrolic life and sure enough, my expensive Mobile oil filter was not there and a grimmy, old Honda filter was in it's place.
So, did you post this on any of the various Honda forums at all?
Or did you only feel that the people here on this bicycle forum would find this info useful?
I honestly don't know what I was expecting to get out of reading this..... but I did it anyway ... Really? On the bike forum ? Most people don't even drive ....

if you take a car to an authorized dealer they're gonna put factory parts back into it so it's up to spec. They changed your filter cus you're supposed to change it with every oil change. They didn't steal it. They took it off and put a factory filter. I wanted to say alot more but...oh well

Here's one I wrote for a kid who got ripped off for a PSP. You will have to re-write it and look up the laws that pertain to service. (This letter specifies damages related to refurbished electronics.)
You can find info on the City Attorney's website to find out which consumer protection laws pertain to you. It take a little bit of research, but its WELL worth it. After I sent this letter, I had this guy blowing up my phone begging to give me a refund for the defective merchandise.

Dear Mr. Jacob,
I am following up with regards to our conversation on Thursday, March 4th, 2010. I am writing to request a refund or replacement with new merchandise in the amount of $219.49 for the Sony PSP game system that we discussed. Sale of refurbished merchandise without proper labeling or disclosure is a crime. As such, we find that you are in violation of California Civil Code Section 1770 (6) and Business and Professions Code 17500 and 17531.
If you refuse to resolve this matter within thirty (30) days, we will be forced to file charges against you in civil court and ask the City Attorney and the Department of Consumer Affairs to press criminal charges. It is our hope that you will resolve this outside of court, but if you choose not to, I would like to warn you that you will be liable for treble (3x) the original cost of the game system, which is the same as $658.47, as pursuant to of the California Civil Code Section 1780 (c).
As we discussed on 3/5/10, the game system was sold as new on 1/04/2010, and was advertised by you and your employees (Jefferson Discount Store) as "new" to **********************. on separate occasions prior to sale. We later discovered that the game was not new (information provided by Sony Corporation), as it had been advertised, and was in fact a 2-year old refurbished merchandise. There was no indication anywhere on the package that this was refurbished merchandise and ********************** were verbally reassured that this was new merchandise prior to the sale.
We encourage you to contact us by mail or telephone to resolve the matter, or we will be forced to take further action with the Department of Consumer Affairs. We have already contacted their office and they have agreed to take our case.
This letter satisfies the requirements set forth in California Civil Code Section 1782.
so basically, if they don't respond to the letter, the city attorney will do an investigation and they will be fined in CRIMINAL court. then you can use that and any prior complaints with the city attorney and the BBB in a CIVIL trial against them, which is where you get paid, and you'll generally get a multiple of the money they ripped you off for.
so, generally it's very expensive when people go through all the steps.

Of course they replaced the previous one and added their stock one. Unless you asked, and they charged you for a $20 filter, but put a $7 filter. I dont know what your complaint is...

No, not for an oil change. YOu can bring in your own filter and oil and they just charge labor and put in your filter and oil. The stole a 20.00 filter and replaced it with a 7.00 factory one and it said on the work order form to "Use customers oil and oil filter provided." and they knew damn well what they were doing.

OTHERWISE, I would have paid full price for a regualr oil change and used thier filter and oil. BUT, they did not even give me a new Honda filter in place of the expensive Mobile one I provided, they kept on an old grimmy filter from the previous oil change where the also did not use my filter.
yeah, personally i think it's a ripoff any time some charges $50 to unscrew a bolt and filter, then put them back and refill the oil.

Oh, I'm going to change my own oil fiter from now on, my car is paid for ages ago, it's a 1997, but God knows what the steal off of it every time I take it in for service.
As for bike riding, I started riding for exercise, not commuting, but I'm doing more commuting now. And my post was to get the word out to people who ride and drive or people who have friends and family who drive....you know people who drive, right?
Anyway, Robertson Honda also charged me 146.00 for a automatic window regulator that they did not replace, I opened up my door myself and took my car to another mechanic, Pep Boy's (ironically the place that RH buys it's non-H parts from) and they confirmed it. All they did was replace the broken window, but the told me I needed a new regulator and I did not.
Opening up my door and fixing my regulator was so easy that I've decided to do my own oil changes as well.
talking about common sense on midnight ridazz is like beinga jerk for no reason or maybe its like making dumb similes about dumb similes. wait ... i mean the opposite... oh sort of like people who bump threads to complain about their existence.
Actually, it was when I decided to open my door and verify the regulator that I decided to also take the car in to verify the oil filter.
I opened my door on Saturday and took my car in on Monday to verify the oil filter was changed, also the car was running sluggish after the oil change. Happy?
FWIW, Culver Motor Clinic at the corner of Overland and Jefferson is a pretty solid and reputable outfit that does good work at fair prices. They're AAA certified, and always use factory parts, so the parts aren't as cheap as the generics, but if you want honest service and no hassles, I recommend them wholeheartedly.
But seriously, you all have got to be FUCKING KIDDING ME ragging on this girl for posting something about CARS in a "BIKE" forum.
