Hit and Run - No Charges

We have seen it time and again.
I am currently doing research for an article. And I am trying to collect as many verifiable examples as possible of cases where:
- THE DRIVER HITS & RUNS
- A POLICE REPORT IS MADE
- THERE IS NO INVESTIGATION
- and/or THERE IS NO ARREST
- and or NO CHARGES ARE FILED
I'm particularly interested in stories about vulnerable road users ie (cyclists, peds, moto & scooter bikers etc.)
There has been an epidemic of these cases and we need to get them documented.
I'm sick of hearing about people committing this foul crime and the cops & prosecutors don't do shit about it.
I'll be digging into the MR archives and posting my findings here. But anything you can add. Especially if its never been documented on this website, would be great! The more specific and verifiable the better.
Thanks in advance for you help!

As I understand it the cops & prosecutors make a determination based on:
Physical injury, property damage, evidence, and likelihood of capture/ conviction.
They weigh the egregiousness of the crime against the odds of convicting the suspect.
No doubt, since it really comes down to juggling limited resources, there may also a personal determination made, if a crime seems really offensive, go go extra hard after a suspect.
Anyway, cyclists and peds have seemed to slip through the cracks when it comes to getting justice in these cases ... this stuff really needs to be brought to light!

Do you need any more info on the Ed Magos Jan 6th incident? If so, I got plenty, so feel free to let me know. I biked up to the scene just after it happened--and am Ed's attorney working with him trying to get some justice.

the stark injustice of Ed's case and the ensuing hubbub are the reason for the article.
We would like to use this moment of public attention to start to investigate the larger problem this represents. So yes, let us have it.
I'm a tweeter too @patrickmmiller
