Santa Monica Pier, Ocean and Colorado
Meet 6:30, Ride at 7pm

Let’s celebrate - The old days when we had free run of the streets! Let’s celebrate – All the great parties! Let’s celebrate - The Santa Monica Police Department for shutting down the ride with months of ticketing; giving birth to CRANK MOB!!! Let’s celebrate - 5 years of westside bike life!


WARNING. The police love to ticket SMCM. Come prepared with a street legal bike. Have a white head light. Have reflectors. Do not ride on the sidewalk in Santa Monica.

SMCM riders have chosen in the past to not ride like a traditional mass in the presence of the police. It is likely that riders will chose to stay in the right lane and break the ride at red lights. If you are in the front of the group ride slow. Like a blimp. People love blimps.

ANTI-WARNING. You can let all worry of tickets go because you will have so much fun you would pay any cost to attend. This is 2010, the future, everything is FUN, and perfect, remember to laugh.

 They usually follow CVC codes to the teeth out there in order to find a cheap reason to pull you over.
An ignorable reg in most areas, but put to use when push-comes-to-shove-comes-to-pimp-slap.

 I'm not going to worry about reflectors personally, my recommendation is just stay more in the middle of the pack as opposed to on the edge / at the tail end.

Imagine yourself as part of a school of fish with a shark looming around... Just have a good sense to not get caught by staying out of the shark's focus / chomp area.

I can't wait for this. Fuckin city won't know what the fuck hit it. I love it.

 What the hell happened to the organization on this ride? I got home too late to make it out there but my friend rode 15 miles in the rain, showed up at 6;50ish and nobody turned out. Maybe ride leaders or the people who post on here should update more often, like RAIN OR SHINE, or CANCELED ???

 Fortunately Critical Mass has no leaders and therefore cannot be canceled. I would think anyone going out to a ride in the dumping rain would assume the turnout will be slim to none. Hopefully your friend had a blast playing in the rain.
