Taco Tuesday

Hey All,
My first taco tuesday ride was last night, and it freaked me out how much disregard for our fellow man (cars etc) that the ride seemed to have in the beginning. Is there any possibility of setting an age minimum? It seemed to me most of the ones starting problems were the young kids filled with piss and vinegar. That being said, I enjoyed the ride and met a lot of cool peeps and will be coming next week, but there was such a disregard for safety and laws, I'm surprised the cops didn't arrest anyone. Not to mention that noone picked up after themselves in the parks we stopped in, which also doesn't help in bettering the bicycle image in the town.
Anyway, I hate to be so negative cause I did have fun, but there's always room for improvement.

They tried an 18+ ride last month and the kids still showed up.

Welcome to LA!
You should check out The Passage of a few people ride. It is always interesting and it is usually a smaller ride without the nefarious byproducts of a large ride.

Unfortunately bike rides sometimes reflect some of the negative aspects of our culture.
And lets face it... 98%-99% of boys/ young men are douchetards.
I know I was one. I did lots of stupid destructive shit when I was younger.
The anger toward any slightly dickish driver ... or even projecting on to any driver for that matter is also a sad fact of life.
As foldie observed, there are lots of rides that do not attract wild kids and partiers.
You just have to read the ride listings, ask around, and experiment.
I've been on so many rides where I just got bored or annoyed and bailed out.
It takes a little experimentation to see which rides are for you.
All the rides here are pretty much free, nobody is getting paid to do this, so while it may get amateurish at times there is more free fun and adventure on this site than anywhere in L.A.
All I can say is its best to lead by example and get in where you fit in.

WTF????
"That being said, I enjoyed the ride and met a lot of cool peeps AND WILL BE COMING NEXT WEEK, but there was such a disregard for safety and laws, I'm surprised the cops didn't arrest anyone."
@DenverNugs
I really don't understand what your point of your post is? You seem to bitch about how crazy and unlawful Taco Tuesdays is, you ask for an age minimum to be set, and you say stuff that is not true like:
"Not to mention that NOONE picked up after themselves in the parks we stopped in"
I guess I don't count because I was asking people to pick up their trash and was picking up other peoples trash as well, maybe you should have been helping out if you are so worried about building a better bicycle image. For a first time rider of Taco Tuesdays and a newbie (10-7-10) to the forums, you sure seem to jump right out there and post a bitch forum about our ride and then say you want to ride it again next week. This really does not make much sense to me or want to welcome you back to ride with us, so thanks for the mixed up negative/improvement post but I think we can do our ride without you. Cheers!
I think you really looking for this part of the website

Basically... Don't just stand there... if you're going to bitch, make sure you're part of the cause and not the observer so you have something to put yourself up against when all the flack comes right back at you.

This person is funny he/she didn't like the disregard for safety or law on this ride so he/she is starting there own ride a bar crawl so you can go out and get drunk and ride bikes because safety first law second

aw shut up. nobody needs a troll. They have the fucking right to go to a bar if they want. (gets rid of the shithead kids) Most adults have the sense not to ride around drunk. Get over it. I see the OP point of wanting to change a situation up. I see no need to shit on it, mister purity himself...

my bad... I read up on the other taco tues thread and I really shouldn't be saying anything. Also Denvernugs shouldn't have posted the title Taco Tues to reflect his own ride.... but other than that no probs.

In any situation you have 3 choices: accept it, change it, or leave it. Pick one. "Most adults have the sense not to ride around drunk." Yeah okay, and everyone where's a helmet, has lights, and rides a bike to save the earth, lol.

What if I want to Pick two?
Like for example: I want to accept it but also change it.
Or I want to change it but then leave it because my change makes it even more stupid.
or I want to leave it but then I want to come back an accept it. Kind of like an old lover you can be away from too long.
What do I do?
