Well, last night at 11:42 pm, I had lent my bike to my friend. He walked down to the 7-11 and bought himself two coffees. As he was heading home, he was approached in a gray/silver Doge Intrepid, model 1999-2002. Four men occupied the car, the passenger got out of the car, pointed the gun at my friend's head and said "give me the bike". My friend gave him the bike and now we are looking for it. It's a "skinny benny" frame, all white, stickers all over it - it has a few Trafik stickers on it and To Live and Ride in LA. The back rim is Vuelta Zerolite 700 C. It has riser bars with red grips. Picture to come soon. Any information would be greatly appreciated. The bike was stolen in Korea Town. Please contact Pnut at 323-895-9585.
Thank you very much. A reward will be given if bike is returned!

Please tell me you've filed a police report on this.
Armed robbery at gunpoint is a lot more serious than cutting a cable lock and taking a bike, so make sure you get this reported.

You did the right thing. Giving up your bike rather than your life is more important (duh). But thats just fucked up.

Ugh, that's terrible. I ride that stretch of James M. Wood a couple times a week. I'll keep an eye out.
So it sounds like he was walking with the bike and the coffees when they jacked him? I'm not trying to blame the victim, but I see how walking a bike on the sidewalk could make you an easy target. A while back, someone reported some guys trying to take his bike while he was riding on the sidewalk near James M. Wood and Alvarado. Sidewalks are bad news for bikes.

Fuck that's around my area.
I take that street every day dood.
No one's ever bothered me there so those guys must be be cruising.
I'll keep an eye out.

How about dialing 9-1-1 as soon as it happened? Are people on this forum not familiar with the 9-1-1 emergency phone number?

sounds to me like it would be mighty tough to put a bike in a dodge intrepid with four grown men inside. did he the gunman flee the scene on the bicycle? could be your buddy didn't keep a close enough eye on it and someone rolled away while he was inside and he made this story up to pass the blame. just throwin it out there

Hello Pnut,
Was 911 called?
Was a police report filed?
If this happened in K-Town than I will follow-up with Olympic Division...but I need to know if there is something to follow-up on.
Thanks,
David

make sure a police report gets filed. if nobody reports stolen bikes, the police won't know to look for the thieves.
