Song HELP!

I'll seriously buy the person who figures this out any beer they want:
I heard a song on a snowboard video that sounded a lot like the Shins. It was folky with acoustic guitar, male vocals, maybe light drums.
The only lyrics I kinda remember are: "I was (or we were) just 17 (or some other teen year) ... in the backyard (or on the back porch) or my (our) parent's house"
I know it's rough, but I'm at my wits end trying to figure it out. Can you? Man, if you know it or can figure it out, I'd be so stoked!

Yeah, genre would help out a lot. Also, do you know if it's a recent song or have you heard it before (more than 2, 5, 10 yrs)?

Ok.
Mike, great band. Not the song. Check out another song by them called "The Greatest Death Metal Band" rad.
If I knew the video, I'd know the song.
It's folk music, similar to the Shins mellower acoustic stuff (think New Slang)
Not the Red House Painters.
Roadblock, that's a Christian band, you should know better.
