Bicycle Lanes on Reseda Blvd. COME OUT AND SPEAK

Bicycle lanes are proposed to be installed on both sides of Reseda Boulevard between Roscoe Boulevard and Parthenia Street, a distance of one-half mile. These lanes will connect existing bicycle lanes to the north and south and is the last remaining gap in bicycle infrastructure on Reseda Boulevard.
Bicycle lanes for the entire length of Reseda Boulevard were designated in the City's Bicycle Plan adopted in 1996 as well as the newest Plan adopted March 1, 2011. They serve the business districts of Northridge, Reseda, and Tarzana as well as California State University, Northridge.
The new lanes will not require any changes in existing vehicular travel lanes or onstreet parking EXCEPT for the removal of parking on the east side of Reseda Boulevard between Chase and Napa streets because of a narrower roadway width along this one block. Currently, parking is restricted to two hours maximum prior to 6:00 p.m. along this stretch.
You are invited to a meeting of the Northridge South Neighborhood Council this Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. to view and comment on this project (see attached flyer). The meeting will be held at Northridge Middle School library, 17960 Chase Street, Northridge 91325.
Please forward this information on to other interested persons. All of the affected 100 businesses have been notified as well.
Hope to see you then. Thanks.

Is there much opposition to this proposal?
If so, what kind of issues are being brought up and by whom?
I'm planning on being there.
