Help out on LACM
Thread started by

2011 is coming and it would be great to have even more riders than the two thousand cyclists already choosing to ride in LA Critical Mass. Anyone interested in assisting their fellow cyclists is encouraged to help.
If you’re interested in working together to encourage more riders to participate in the Los Angeles Critical Mass ride then read on.
The last Friday of every month, LA Critical Mass, the largest bicycle ride in the City of Los Angeles takes place. Riders meet at the Metro Station on the Northeast corner of Wilshire Blvd., and Western Avenue at 6:30 p.m. and the riders start riding at 7:30 p.m. Riders of all ages and with different levels of experience are included.
The Critical Mass ride is a worldwide ride taking place in over 300 cities which encourages riders to have fun with a purpose. The purpose for riding is different for each individual. Some riders ride with the purpose to encourage motorists to drive safer when cyclists are present. Some ride because they are more comfortable riding with others. Some ride to bring attention to cycling issues, while others just want to celebrate the opportunity to ride and have fun.
Some of the ways you can assist LACM and your fellow cyclists are:
Ride Crew (communicates with other volunteers so gaps are minimized during the ride).
Ride Angel Crew (identifies bike shops to participate during the ride to help riders with flats or other mechanical issues).
Promotion Crew (assists by identifying and promoting Los Angeles Critical Mass rides – online sites, bike shops, etc.).
Website Writers or Editors (assists by writing or editing materials for posting on website).
Forum Motivator Crew (replies to posts on forums and motivates posters to stay enthusiastic).
Webmaster Crew (improves the website technically).
Volunteer Crew (identifies ways to add more volunteers and encourages others to assist LA Critical Mass).
Social Crew (develops ways to motivate and keep it fun for those assisting LACM).
Media Relations Crew (communicates with media, and writes and edits material for distribution to media outlets).
Photography Crew (shoots video or takes photographs before and during LA Critical Mass ride).
It’s never too late to donate… your time. Help others to have fun and enjoy riding LA Critical Mass.
If you're interested in assisting your fellow cyclists send an email to Volunteer@LaCriticalMass.org Include your telephone number so it will be easier to contact you and include you in the fun.
Share this information with others and also post it online.

for lacriticalmass.org to have any legitimacy it needs to be:
open source, accessible, and represent the range of views of people who engage in critical mass.
it seems like at the moment this website is composed of a small group of people posting anonymously.
People's posts are opinions, and should have names attached to them and the site should post differing viewpoints if it is to be representative of la critical mass.
Otherwise, this website will just represent one faction of critical mass riders and not be taken seriously by the rest.

Not sure if anyone suggested having party rides for those volunteering to help LA critical mass but maybe that would be a good way to motivate more to help.
also the website at lacriticalmass.org looks like it can use some tech help with the appearance, maybe some one here could help with that. any suggestions?

I though most of us were already functioning as the "forum motivator crew". You know what, I can tell when my work is not appreciated anymore.
Come on Borfo, screw this, follow me, I'm having way more fun (and anxiety) reading and thinking about wikileaks. And RBI thinks we're underground...hah, i want an aes256 encryption code for my login.

we get it, youre an undercover cop. no. youre a
bad undercover cop. posting messages on the internet with syntax that would make a kushtown rider cringe trying to pose as the "real thing" is laughable. youre a joke.
you say were one of the "founders" of critical mass in san fransisco in the 90s? really? no one believes this fallacy. youre too fucking old to be bragging about pointless bullshit like this, especially on the internet.
why are you trying to be the martyr of critical mass? why do you think you can change it from the top down? martyrs dont usually take themselves too seriously. but you do.
