New plan for Critical Mass.

Hi guys,
I went on the ride last night, and I was pondering on whether it was an effective way to establish the bicyclists' presence on the road. It seemed to be more of a parade than anything.
Do you guys think it would be more effective just to encourage people all over the city to come out and ride, without any particular organization?
The plan would be to spread as many bicyclists as possible throughout the city and merge with traffic on a specific day. (Obeying all of the traffic rules of course, and preferably staying in the right lane.)
Let me know what you think! =]

I don't get it.
Your plan sounds like what most ridazz already do on a daily basis.

You guy rode with a police escort I heard. That's not really CM. Cm is about asserting your right to use the road as normal vehicle traffic. Giving the police a route helps the police separate bicycle traffic from motor traffic.
The goal of CM is to get bikes and cars to work together. Hiding behind a bunch of corking motorcycle cops isn't really asserting your right to the road. Its just kinda pathetic.

The New plan for critical mass is to follow the rules of the road (leaving the left lane open and stopping at all reds) and also announcing a destination at the start of the ride.
Breaking up into groups going in different directions to the destination is also part of the new solution.
All rides in LA should begin to follow the first step at least. It makes sense to have many different rides riding at the same time and meeting up at a destination rather than ride like a parade with police escort.
It's a contstant struggle to train riders to follow the road rules. Sometimes we get lazy and a lot of us need to improve our riding skills. This is something that must be done in order to keep bikes on the streets of LA.

All weekly and monthly rides should have their own CM on the last friday of the month and then meet up for a SUPER party that will be cop-free.

I'll be gone, but please represent for us!
Remember to follow the road rules. This is essential and takes effort.

Hello.
Yes, I agree with you. I bike on daily basis myself, as I do not own a car.
However, what I was suggesting is that we still set up a day and time during which we all go biking, that way there is a large population of cyclists on the road at a given time.
By doing so, theoretically, formations of small groups will be unavoidable. But the key would be small and sparse.
