I had a blast last year! If you can take the time off, I would highly recommend taking the train (I forget but I think it cost $5 or $15 extra to take the bike as checked luggage- way better than shipping/flying with it and worrying about how it is being handled. Just make sure the fucks at the station actually put the motherfuckers on the right train at the right time). I am not sure what my schedule is looking like but I will be MISSING THE PARTY OF THE CENTURY (Hi Larsen!) with you guys in mind somewhere out of the country if all goes unplanned.
Hail Eris!

Depends on how you go.
If you're a complete scaredy cat and travel overland like I do, roughly $600-$800 for rental car, fuel., etc
This could be brought down by bringing along extra passengers and having a chip-in.

Amtrak costs $272 round trip if you buy the tickets far enough ahead of time. The house we got last year ended up costing less than $100/person for the whole week, I think.
So nowhere near $600-800, unless you eat a
lot of po-boys.

So realistically, let's say:
$300 Train
$100 Housing (possibly)
$100-200 Food/ drinks/ events/ shenanigans
$40 Random junk that must be brought home
So around $500-600...
From OCT-DEC save $200 a month...
Maybe some Christmas gifts could translate into NOLA money...
Hmmmm....

You forgot:
$1,000 Hookers and blow
unless that is part of your Food/drinks/events/shenanigans line item, then you need to bump that one up a little........

nothing wrong with a nice train ride if it adds time! if it subtracts time, then ehh, but hey it's so nice to see the landscape for HOURS

$272/roundtrip?
Well, as long as the conductor's not a bitch, it would be a pretty good deal.
